Customer Reviews of Futuro Plantar Fasciitis Sleep SupportCustomer Review: A "Doable" Option For Night Splints Summary: 5 Stars
As the name implies, these are splints you wear at night. Most of them look like big boots, which is why I like the Futuro Plantar Fasciitis Sleep Support brand- it's just less bulky to wear at night than most.
Now the idea behind these splints is to try and keep the foot and ankle structures stretched out all night in order to promote healing and avoid morning pain and stiffness that is so common in plantar fasciitis. Only a few randomized controlled trials have actually tested out this interesting idea. For instance:
-volunteers in one study were randomized to get either custom foot inserts, anterior night splints, or custom foot inserts and anterior night splints (Roos 2006). At 12 weeks, all groups improved significantly with no significant differences found in pain among the three groups at any point in time.
-in another study, patients wore either custom shoe inserts, over-the-counter arch supports, or night splints (Martin 2001). At 12 week follow-up, all groups improved with no significant differences between them.
-night splints were compared to no night splint use in this randomized controlled trial (Powell 1998). After one month, the group that wore the night splints showed greater improvement compared to the control group.
As you can see, these night splints ARE effective in treating plantar fasciitis-but note that they seem to be just as effective as over-the-counter or custom foot inserts too. Therefore, since night splints can be a pain to sleep with for a lot of people, I recommend you try them as a last resort after you've tried more conservative things such as foot inserts. Customer Review: The Joy of Being Pain Free Summary: 5 Stars
If you're reading this, you either think you have or have been diagnosed with plantar fasciitis. One day in early July out of the blue my left heel started to hurt. I've never had foot problems so I didn't think much about it. Two days later I could barely walk. Every step was sheer agony. After some checking on the internet I quickly realized I had the classic symptoms of plantar fasciitis, i.e., the pain would decrease very slightly after walking for awhile (I found out that was because the ligament was being stretched), the pain was always so much worse after driving, and in the morning the first step upon getting out of bed was absolutely excruciating. I followed doctor's orders. I iced it, did all the stretching exercises and rolled my foot around on a frozen soup can. Nothing seemed to help. The doctor never once mentioned using a night splint. I ordered this splint after reading about it in a plantar fasciitis on-line chat room. It completely lived up to its promise. It arrived much sooner than anticipated and after using it for 3 or 4 nights I could walk again without having to hold onto the furniture and wanting to scream out in agony. After using it for about 10 nights I was completely pain free and have been ever since. It simply keeps your foot in the proper position while you sleep so the ligament can heal. It's not uncomfortable at all and never interfered with my getting a good night's sleep. If you've been diagnosed with plantar fasciitis, take my advice. Do not hesitate. Do not hobble around in agony for weeks like I did. Order this immediately. I wish I had known about it sooner.

Customer Review: Work Great!!! Give them a shot!! Summary: 5 Stars
These things work wonders...give them a try!!!
I had plantar fasciitis for a little over a year now and it was getting worse and worse. The pain in the morning was terrible. Everyday, I would wake up and my feet would be killing me. On a scale of 1-10 (1 = being mild discomfort and 10 being severe pain/ can't even walk)...my pain in the morning was around an 8..sometimes even a 9. I saw these Futuro night splints on Amazon and saw all of the positive reviews they were getting so I thought I'd give them a try. Well, the reviews are well deserved because these things work wonders. After two days of wearing them to bed (very comfortable and easy to use by the way and easy to walk around in your house), I woke up and for the first time in a year...I had only a mild foot pain. My pain had gone from a 8 to a 2 in a matter of days. It's been a week now and my feet feel great. Just make sure you where them EVERY night for the best results...I went to bed once without them and I regretted it in the monring because, surprise surprise, my feet were killing me again.
The only things I would say is to check a couple CVS stores near you because they sell it.
Also note that only 1 splint comes in each box. I made the mistake of thinking two came in the box but, that's a mistake. So if you've got problems in both feet, make sure you order 2 of them.
Otherwise I can't say enough nice things about this product.
I highly recommend it.
Customer Review: painfree at last Summary: 5 Stars
I have been unable to walk every morning for months because of the terrible pain in my heel when I walked. Bought this night brace ( it was the cheapest on Amazon) and decided to give it a try. I am a shoe size 8 female and the brace was very easy to attach. It has adjustable strap around your instep and an adjustable strap around the calf. The strap around the calf has 2 different velcro taps to help with adjustment (one on the left and one on the right). I had no problem with the boot staying in place. The boot is NOT designed to stretch the fasciitis, it is designed to hold the foot in a 90 -85 degree angle. At night when you relax your foot during sleep the toes relax and your foot spends 8 hours in a 45 degree angle during which the fasciitis tendon pulls tight. Thus when you wake in the morning it is very painful to walk until you restretch the tendon. This morning when I got out of bed after wearing the brace only ONE night. I could have danced. My foot was pain free. I have been doing the recommended stretchine exercises as well and I finally believe that I will evetually fully recover from this painful experience. I HIGHLY recommend this product.
Customer Review: Really does help relieve overnight Fasciitis pain Summary: 5 Stars
I don't submit reviews unless I am really impressed by a product. I have been suffering from acute Plantar Fasciitis for over 2 months that was aggravated by a sports injury. I used to wake up in the morning unable to step on my heel due to the pain. I investigated several braces which were designed for the same purpose. I selected this one because it was the least bulky. It really does help and has significantly reduced the morning pain but you still need to follow up with proper exercise and medical care because this only works on the symptoms caused by overnight shrinking of the membranes. Repeated over-stretching of the fascia, pressure on the bone spur, and constant pressure on the heel during the day contributes to aggravating the condition. Also get the proper orthotics under the care of a specialist for your specific condition.
