I have been shaving my legs for ages (!!!), and I bet if there were some sort of a survey it would show definitively that NO one finds it particularly a blast to do. In the shower or bath, I'd rather be washing my hair or something which feels more nuturing and relaxing. Therefore, this new razor has an appeal for me because it actually 1) feels good as I hold it (I make jewelry, and I like the feel of a well made tool in my hand--this razor, Venus Embrace, is almost ergonomically designed) and 2) feels good as it glides on my legs.
The pod holder won't work out here, as we have children. Anyone who leaves an exposed razor in the shower, held by a pod wih suction cups, who has kids, is, of course, insane. I suppose I see the appeal of the pod for childless people, who want a razor which has a station where it can be "docked" to air-dry conveniently, and there IS a good spot for the extra cartidges to be stored inside.
The pod looks like a small space ship or a mini house designed by a famous architect, or possibly it just resembles an egg. I enjoyed looking at it for a while before I locked it and the razor in the closet after using them.
I definitely recommend this razor and I will continue to use it. I will continue to buy refills for it as well. It is simple to use, pleasant to hold, as I said, and easy to deal with. Off to shampoo, now!

A razor is a razor--but this one actually made me want to shave. Ladies, you know how it is, after a couple of decades, shaving your legs becomes a chore to dread. The Venus Embrace has eased that chore for me. I've used Venus products for several years, but this one is miles ahead of past versions, and it does everything it claims to do.
Yes, it is comfortable to hold--rather like those pens with the soft rubbery stuff on the outside. I think it makes the razor less slippery in your hand as well. That's important in the shower especially. The holder is oddly shaped, but there are no hinges to open or to break. Time will tell if that open design is a good thing or not. It did fit well and unobtrusively in my cramped shower. I loved the suction cups though as opposed to the old sticky stuff.
The most important thing, however, is the actual results from using the Venus Embrace. Here, it really shined. Smooth, efficient, and comfortable. I deliberately made only one pass to see how well the product worked. Perfect! One pass was all that was needed; my legs were smooth, hair-free, and without a single nick or scrape. There was a slight scrape on my underarm, but that could have been user error. How long that moisture strip lasts has to be determined over time, but so far, I love this razor. It's my new product of choice.

Gillette's Venus Embrace is by far the best shaver I have ever tried, and it's amazing as its 5 tiny "Curve-Hugging" blades glide over your skin and give you an incredibly close shave while hardly feeling it; and yes, it does leave you with "Dramatically Smooth Skin." This gizmo is smooth and lovely to handle as well, with its light as a feather frame, "Soft Grip Handle," and pretty mint green and aqua colors. There's a balance to it that makes shaving a pleasure and a hazard-free experience too! Yes, we've come a long way, in how women's shavers are made. I still remember the one I used 40+ years ago. A clunky metal thing, with a knob that turned and opened the shaver so you could insert a double edged razor, and then you'd proceed to mutilate yourself. Since then, we've put a man on the moon, and with Venus, Gillette has made the perfect women's shaver!
I also appreciate "New Shower Pod," which has 2 suction cups that adhere to your shower tiles (or any flat surface) and not only cradles your shaver, but holds extra blade cartridges (2 cartridges come with the package) inside. It has a nifty "space age" design, just right for a Venusian. Gillette's Venus Embrace is the real deal, in a world full of hype. Try it, you'll like it.

I was in disbelief when I first tried the Gillette Venus Embrace Razor. I shaved like normal - but didn't `feel' the shave. Normally I can feel the blades as they rub on my skin - this was different. I ran my hand up & down my leg to be sure it even worked - It Did! Wow!!
The head of the razor is bigger than I'm used to, but the only time this really makes a difference is when shaving my armpits. (Did I really just mention my armpits in one of my reviews!?!)
Because of how soft this shave really is - I decided to test it against my usual razor. I shaved one leg with each razor. Both were smooth and both grew back at the same rate. If there's no difference - why wouldn't you choose the SOFT shave!!! Seriously - I don't feel those blades - this makes me excited for swimsuit season ... (then again, I won't be putting on a swimsuit anyway!!)
This razor comes with a case for the replacement blades that you can hang in the shower and that you can hang the razor on. I could not get mine to stay put no matter what I tried. Oh well - so I'll keep the replacement blades in the drawer - who cares when the shave is this good!!

Gillette's Venus Embrace Razor is a winner in my book. For someone who dreads shaving because every excursion results in a bloody nick, this razor changed my view entirely.
The handle attaches to the head at the bottom, leaving the head to swivel naturally with each body curve. Most razors have the handle attaching at the top of the razor so mobility is limited.
For the first time since I started shaving my legs, I did not come away with nicks, cuts, or scrapes. The multiple blade head seems to float over the turns and curves of the body and gives a close shave with little pressure.
I also liked the enclosed shower pod which holds the additional blades and keeps them dry yet handy. Nothing worse than having to leave the shower to get a new razor. The pod has stuck in its original place so I haven't had problems with it falling off the tile as have other reviewers.
Overall, there isn't anything I can say that I didn't like. So, for women who have tried waxing, lotions, or other razors, give this a try. I don't think you'll be disappointed. No fuss, straight forward and no PAIN!
