Customer Reviews of GoWear fit Lifestyle and Calorie Management SystemCustomer Review: Daily Food Logging Now Available Summary: 5 Stars
I just got my product yesterday, so I haven't really been able to test it out much (will update), but I do want to address some of the negative reviews I saw here when I was considering purchasing this item. I noticed some reviews that said daily food logging was not available with this product. Well, it is now. This wasn't a huge deal breaker for me as I prefer to write down my food in my food journal, but if you want to be able to track calories in and calories out in the same place, this product will do it. As for the hardware issues, I haven't had any; my GWf charged up in about 3 hours as it said, held its charge all through the night, and only took about five minutes to fully charge again this morning. As for the amazon code issue, I thought I wouldn't be able to use my Amazon code, but you actually enter it on the second page of the billing info, not the first, and I suspect that may have been the issue with the one reviewer (it was actually a little confusing, and I purchase crap on the internet all the time). Further, GWf has right on its website that you can purchase the unit from amazon.com, so I find it doubtful that they wouldn't provide technical support for units purchased there, although I've had no occasion to call technical support.
Once again, I'll update my review when I have more info on how the GWf actually works, but my first impression is that a lot of the negative reviews (which actually delayed my decision to purchase) have been addressed by the company or weren't applicable in my case.
P.S. Just for all the mac people out there, the GoWear fit is mac compatible, and I've had no issues with syncing whatsoever.
Customer Review: Absolutely great tool for weight loss Summary: 5 Stars
I started on a diet/exercise program in the fall of 2008. I bought an elliptical and treadmill (both reviewed on here too if you're interested) and a Polar F6 heart rate monitor. I had great success, losing just over 50 pounds by the beginning of March. However, I plateaued at this point and found it difficult to lose more. I'd read about the Bodybugg after seeing it on the Biggest Loser, but felt I didn't need to buy it with my steady progress initially. So, with the plauteu, I decided to go ahead and spring for it.
I bought the GoWear Fit over the Bodybugg mainly because I could buy it from Amazon (and it's a little cheaper). I knew it was the same original company making both products. I got mine last week; been wearing it nearly constantly since then. At first I felt the strap was a little uncomfortable, but I think I was tightening it too much. Anyway, I don't notice it at all anymore. I'm aiming for a 1,000 calorie deficit a day; logging all of my food daily to achieve that. And the scale is moving downwards again!!! It's terrific. I think I probably wasn't eating enough before the GWF on my hard workout days and probably not exercising enough on days that I don't lift weights. Either way, I'm definitely back on track. Information is very powerful, and this device provides me with the information I need to make choices about each day in terms of food and activity. I love the sleep analysis part too; it catches every nap I take during the day and all my sleep at night. I'm going to have to spend even more money....buying an all new wardrobe that is, since my clothes are really starting to hang on me. What a terrific problem to have!
Customer Review: Works great...very helpful Summary: 5 Stars
I have had this a month now and have lost 5 pounds. I find being able to track my calorie intake and expenditure very helpful in keeping my weight loss program on course. The device seems to be fairly accurate as I'm losing about what I should be based on my daily calorie deficit. (OK, I should be losing a tiny bit more than I actually do, but that happens on any diet/exercise plan I undertake.)
I didn't think I'd use the meal log part of the program, but it is so easy to do, I use it every day. It is also nice to see exactly how much sleep I am getting. Proof to my husband that I don't sleep as much as he thinks!
I find the armband comfortable (maybe a tiny bit less so at night, since I tend to sleep with my head over that exact part of arm, but no big deal really). I find that seeing the numbers helps me keep on track. (I've exercised both more and less than I might otherwise...but the point is that I've exercised enough every week...or made up for it with less calorie intake.
Update: After a bit more than 10 weeks, I am still loving this device. Have lost 10 pounds so far. It is so nice to try to control your weight with precise feedback rather than guesswork. I am really changing my lifestyle because of this...turns out my problem isn't so much overeating as it is my very sedentary job. Now I can make smarter decisions. For instance, I used to feel guilty if I skipped my Zumba class to work around the house. But, I've discovered that I can burn more calories doing some of my yardwork tasks. I've also found that the number of steps I take doesn't always equate with calories burned...depends on the activity.
Customer Review: A great investment in your health Summary: 5 Stars
I've been using my Go Wear for about a month, while I've only lost 2 lbs the data shows me why I've only lost 2! It motivates you to move more to achieve your goals and by eating a sensible diet you do get results. I've honestly logged every calorie this past month and my report shows that I need to reduce my carbohydrate calories, increase my protein and get moving more even on my rest days from the gym.
The sleep data has been so helpful, I'm making an effort to get to bed earlier and I notice now I can tell when I've gotten close to my 8 hours before I've even logged in for the day.
Yes, there's a subscription fee but they've made improvements to the food log and website just since I've joined and I feel like it's a small price to pay to analyze the data properly.
Is it an annoying conversation starter? Sure, I'm female and I wear a lot of tee shirts etc. but I've no problem summing it up with a quick: "it's a health device that helps me monitor my activity"
I don't wear the display device as a watch cause it is cheap plastic but I carry the display button in my bag or pocket and check it throughout the day.
I ordered a few extra bands from the company directly so I wash one each night so I always have a clean one to wear. They do get gross after gym time. The unit is easy to clean with some rubbing alcohol and I move the band slightly throughout the day to prevent irritation. Unless you have an allergy, you shouldn't have any issues with the band-it's not necessary to wear it so tight that you can't lift weights like a previous review stated.
Customer Review: Greatest Weight Loss Device there is! Summary: 5 Stars
I found out about this device from watching the Biggest Loser, where it's called the Body Bugg. Body Media makes it and markets it three different names, the Body Bugg, GoWherefit and Sensewear. The reason I know all this is because I intend on starting a weight loss clinic incorporating the device. This is hands down the best weight loss product ever devised. I know because I have lost about 1/3rd of my body weight in the last 10 months. I will admit that most of it I lost under Weight Watchers, which is the most successful weight loss company in the world, but as you get closer to what is considered "normal BMI", the weight loss becomes far more difficult. This is especially true for those who have lost an extraordinary amount of weight like myself. Everyone I spoke to at Weight Watchers said it took them 6 months to a year and a half to lose the last 10lbs. So being within 15lbs, I decided to use this. It was like I was unshackled and in 1 month of using it I have lost 9lbs, after being stuck for months. The GoWearfit is fantastic! Every day I cant wait to plug it in to see how much I lost in a workout, or how much of a calorie deficit I have to use towards my upcoming meals and snacks. Knowledge is power and this gives 24/7 of it. My sister, who introduced me to Weight Watcher, was impressed at what it has done for me and bought one. She has only had it one week and lost 4 lbs, with no working out, just normal daily activity. for those of you worried about the reliability of a new product, this has been used by doctors and clinics for over a decade, it was just last year they made it available to the consumer.
