unlike the big box store tools, this one is made of much heavier gauge steel. A 170 pound person can jump on the back and it will not bend.
As with any bulb planting tool, it must be clean, debris free soil your planting in. It will not go through mulch, rocks, or any obvious foreign debris.It also helps if the soil is moist and firm. Do not till before hand....
