We needed this item for use after knee replacement surgery. It was needed due to the amount of weight it would hold. Our other seat was only rated to 250 lbs. But this bench was to short even being extended to its full height. It was shorter by 1inch than the other seat we owned. There was no way for a person with knee surgery to get up from this seat.
