I'm not one to regularly leave product reviews - mainly because most of what I've purchased on Amazon are books, and I really think that's up to each reader. But I AM going to leave feedback on this BACKREST. Background: I have a "bad back" (congenital defect where there is very little room up the center of the vertebrae for the spinal cord. I had a slipped disc at L4-L5 about 20 years ago (chiro), the onset of Carpal Tunnel Syndrome throughout my IT career (chiro), a whiplash at C4-C5 in a head on collision (chiro), a complete "blowout" of my L4-L5 that had me on the floor screaming for 911 which involved morphine and carrying me on a board to the ambulance for an emergency fusion of my L4-L5 (neurosurgeon, titanium plate), and NOW, my C4-C5 (never healed properly), after trying EVERYTHING with my great chiropractor, had an MRI and the vertebrae are damaging my spinal cord, causing my entire right arm to go numb if I hold it above waist level for any length of time. So I will have my SECOND back surgery December 21st, 2010 (ho ho ho...). SOOOO... I have been around the block with back/neck pain. I have tried too many chairs to mention. NONE ever were "right." My last chair (executive leather) was HORRID once I sat in front of my Mac with it, and went to Salvation Army. My "new" chair is "okay," but I just didn't have the support I needed to sit in it for long hours in front of the computer and it caused middle back pain (which is ACTUALLY what got me seeing my chiro again - it was after a period of adjustments that the C4-C5 problem became apparent). I bought a "chiro Backrest" (The Ultimate? - a Canadian company) from his office, but that was useless - no support at all. I was reluctant to give this Backrest a try - but I'm not about to sell my Mac Pro and just use my laptop because of my back. So I gave this a try. THIS is the "Ultimate" (if there ever was one)! It COMPLETELY supports you. I use it without the lumbar pad, but I can see how someone who hasn't been operated on there may need that support. It's Velcro, so you can put it EXACTLY where you need it. The Backrest is awesome and fits like a glove. I have a tendency (the neck) to lean a bit forward, so I added what is actually a "lumbar roll" support around the top of this Backrest for my neck and it works like a charm. I have only positive things to say about this product. If I were you, I would buy THIS ONE, and have a happy back. I may get one for my car. The company is 5 STAR all the way; ships fast, great product at a MUCH LOWER price than most "ergo gear," and I've talked with them on the phone (number is in their Amazon profile) and they are SO customer-oriented! So, there's my "two cents," from someone who NEEDED this Backrest, and I am hoping this review will be able to help others like me (even if you have a GOOD back - if you want comfort and TAKE CARE of your back - buy this).
