I just got this for Christmas, and I wish I'd gotten it years ago! It's great for getting out the deep knots - the knobs feel like thumbs (the thumbs of someone really strong). I bought two of these for mothers day, one for my mom and one for my mother-in-law. They both love it and I use it everytime I am over there. The 'thumbs' are reversable, and the cord is super long so you don't have to rearrange the entire room to use it. This is great to use on nearly any part of your body. I am pregnant so I use it on the lower back, my mom uses it on her sholders and my son likes the way it feels when he puts his little thighs on it.Customer Review: I highly recommend this as a pampering tool...

I got this as a wedding present from friends who knew how stressed out I was/am. I honestly thought it'd be terrible- I am just really dubious about such products. I took out an inflatable soft head pillow, a strap to attach it onto a chair (my desk chair! I thought- the pictures showed a car seat but I share my car so I decided to mount it to my desk chair). Well, I use it there and I use it on the couch to massage my neck and back. It feels soooooo good. I mostly sit upright with it and start from the top of my back, working down. You can adjust how far apart the little rotating knobs are and what direction they go in. After a little tweaking anyone could get a good massage out of this. Really impressive, even though it's a little creepy to watch the "hands in a bag" do their work. I highly recommend this as a pampering tool, relaxation device, stress reducer, etc. Only thing- it said not to massage before bed because the massage would be stimulating and keep me up- no way, one massage from this thing and I am ready to have a nice nap :)Customer Review: The pressure was very weak.

The machine did not offer enough pressure or flexibility for use.The instructions indicate you are to rest your neck or foot in between the rollers. While the effect was mildly pleasant and relaxing it certainly didn't massage adequately. The pressure was very weak. Same experience using it on my feet.
Save your money for something better.

I first bought the adjustable SM 200, and loved it, and stripped the gears within 3 days! Then the motor wouldnt work except in slo mo, intermittently. Ok, so I'll send this back to HomeMedics for repair. In the meantime, I couldnt live without the great, deep shiatsu massage this device provides, so I bought the basic SM100. Again, within 3 days I had stripped the gears. And I only use it attached to the back of my chair. It gets pretty warm after a few minutes. Did I abuse the product? I dont think so. Not worth getting it repaired. Sorry.

Therapist Select Shiatsu massager with bonus head restShiatsu, a Japanese form of massage, uses thumb and finger pressure on special points in the body to improve circulation, relieve stress, and more. This massager from HoMedics simulates the deep kneading pressure of shiatsu through two mechanical 'thumbs,' which rotate rhythmically at the flip of a switch in either an inward or outward motion. Angled just right, the massager is designed for use primarily under the neck while lying down (for support, an inflatable head rest pillow with suction cup is included). Because the thumbs are not adjustable and work only the sides of the neck, those with thicker necks will find the massage more vigorous. The unit can also be placed under a calf or thigh while the user is propped up in bed, or under a foot while sitting in a chair (again, it will massage only the sides of the foot, not the sole). Two handles with rubberized grips make it easy to hold the massager against the front of the thighs or on a partner's back.
