This product is very, very confusing. In 2 words, ALL it does is after you've put your back-neck between the rollers: (A) The 2 rollers go up OR, (b) The 2 rollers go down.... you select through a switch. While doing so, they apply pressure upon the neck in-between from these 2 rollers. That's it. You can either do (a) or (b). Not both alternatively automatically. Within minutes, I guarantee you - you'll be totally bored. Next, the pressure applied is really, really high. Whoever I know tried it told me that it's almost someone is choking me from behind. Those having sinus problems (like myself) I feel really a pressure hitting the back of my head if I put the rollers to go up.
Also, those thinking of putting a towel to ease the pressure, it's not possible, since then you won't be able to fit in your neck!
Also, I thought of using it by fixing it on my exec. chair. Not possible = why? Since the provided strap is really too small to go all the way.
All in all - a rather disappointing product.

This massager overall does what it's supposed to do, but it's not as comfortable as it appears. The short front digs a little into the shoulders and so you have to adjust yourself to find the most comfortable position which may not be the best relaxing position. The head rest does not work for me. If I'm using it my head is raised too high to feel the effects of the kneading thumbs. Maybe it depends on the size of the persons head and neck to get the right effects. It would be better if one can somehow adjust the width of the thumbs. I do use it though and if I maneuver myself correctly and get the right spot, it is worth having.Customer Review: Better than nothing, but not very recommendable.

I ordered this a couple years ago as I work on computers all day long and often end up with a tense neck at the end of the day. I am an average person with the average sized neck. It seemed like the "fingers" were too small and since they're in sync had the high potential to pinch the crap out of my neck when they met in the center. I also found the sound of the machine while operating to be distracting during use, and because I was so concerned about the pinching I didn't fully relax enough for it to work. Maybe I shouldn't relax that much it could really get a good grab of the skin on the back of your neck!Customer Review: Just OK this time around for HoMedics

I love this company-and have always appreciated its product line. (I own 6 of them) But there is just not enough power in the SM-100 Shiatsu Massager to be really effective. It's not a "bad" product--it's just not up to this companys usual standards when it comes to being effective and reaching deep enough into the muscles to bring real relief. In fairness, it should be noted that the cost of the SM-100 is very reasonable; that is, it's not over priced for what it is and what it does. If you need minor relief in the neck area, I suppose this might do the job.Customer Review: Not real pleased

A bit disappointed with this product overall. The rotating pieces are to far apart allowing your neck to sit to low in the unit. The massager only barley massages the sides of your neck which is not enough pressure for me. Maybe I have a small neck? The price was very reasonable so I don't feel a crunch in my pocket book being not completley satisfied. Works good on your feet, calves and thighs so I get some use out of it.
