Whenever I'm in one of those cities that has one of those big designer malls, you know the kind, the kind with a Sharper Image and a Brookstone store in them (well, I guess most of them are out of business now, but you know what I mean), I just love to go to those kind of stores and abuse the free massage chair privilege. I just sit right down, fire the chair up, close my eyes and relax for about ten minutes or so. Then I try another, then another, they've usually got about three to four chairs and I can burn up an easy half hour, sometimes a whole hour, getting my free massages.
Yes, the sales people may get a bit annoyed, but what care I. I'm a guy who lets other's opinions or roll off his shoulders, like water off a duck's back.
Now while this little beauty, the Homedics Shiatsu Massaging Cushion may not be as fantastic as those chairs, it is about $4000 cheaper, so for my money you can't beat it. Those rolling balls start at the base of your spine, work their way up to your neck and down again.

And it sure as heck beats going next door and getting Mr. Bently to walk on your back. But then, I guess George Jefferson didn't have any choice, the Shiatsu Massaging Cushion hadn't been invented yet. But you don't have to go to your neighbor's, you don't have to go to the mall for a freebe and you don't have to pay four grand. You can pick up this really nifty shiatsu massager for a song and it's got heat too, such a deal.

I've had back problems for 6 years now. Until I started using the Shiatsu Massaging Cushion with heat, I was in and out of the chiropractor's office every month or two having discs (L3&5) popped back in place. It was a horrible time.
Then I discovered this chair. Seriously, it changed my life. In the two years I've owned this chair, I've had ONE incident that required a chiropractor's adjustment. Using this cushion is the only thing I've changed in my life - aside from dropping the frequent chiropractor bills.
I'm not sure how massaging the muscles = less disc problems, but it did for me. Maybe the knots (dissolved by the massager) were the culprits?
I use it at least once a week, and I feel like a new person. I really like that there is no annoying vibration, and it successfully gets into my sore spots.
I do agree with the reviewer who complained about it not being appropriate for a large person. My boyfriend is 6'4" and he complains that it is not tall enough. However, I'm 5'3" and it's perfect.
In addition, Homedic's customer service is great - my cushion stopped working about a month ago, and I had to deal with the return process. I was amazed to find how easy it was! Keep your receipt, and they'll replace it for two years. You just have to get it there. They pay for the shipping back to you.
However, if it was beyond the return period, I would have BOUGHT another one. I seriously love this chair!!

I've had Homedics products before including a couple of their other models of massage cushions. Without exception I have not been happy with the results. That is why this particular model was a real surprise to me. It is in a league of its own compared to the other models I tried.
Not only does it work well but it has options for heat as well as the ability to concentrate the massaging action on the lower back, upper back, or the entire back. Two heated rotating units move up your back on either side of the spine and then down again producing a deep massage effect. The unit is timed for fifteen minute sessions before automatically shutting off.
The other Homedics units I tried basically had between five and ten vibrating "motors" and for me produced an increase in blood circulation without any muscular benefit. If you are looking for one that will really help sore, tired muscles then this is the unit you want. If you have not been happy with the results from Homedics massage units before then give this one a try before giving up on them. This one really works and I could not be happier with it!

I bought this about a month ago and have enjoyed it. I wanted a home massage without paying $50 each time. I did some research with the brands and the different levels of seats you could buy. Of course this is the lower level of the HoMedics massager seats because there are only 2 rolling balls but it does the trick. It can be a little rough in the middle and more gentle on the top of your neck and bottom of your lower back. I feel great when I get up and feel like I've had a real massage.
The directions are easy. The remote is user-friendly. I like that it automatically shuts off after 15 minutes because that is the recommended time. I did do it 2x one night for 30 minutes total and it was a bit much so 15 minutes is just right. The roughness is similar to a real massage and it really does work out the tension. It feels like a real massage. I use it right against my couch so that I'm sitting upright in the chair. Highly recommend for the home massage.

I recently purchased this product. I have chronic back pain related to bulging discs and bone spurs in my thoracic spine. Being on my feet all day at work exacerbates the pain.
I get a sharp pain just to the left of my spine in the mid-upper back area. The Shiatsu Massaging Cushion with heat does relax my muscles and helps to alleviate the pain.
I prefer to use the heat setting with the massage, but it is optional. The roller mechanism is spaced well for my frame, and it exerts a good amount of pressure. If it's too much, you can always put a towel between your back and the cushion.
I'd definitely recommend this product. I'd suggest that anyone with a chronic health problem consult with a professional before using it. However, I don't see any major contraindications for most people.
I'm very glad I've found something that finally helps with my back pain.
