I purchased this product to use for my business (newborn photographer). Last week, I decided to try it in my 8 month old son's room. I wish I would have used it for him much sooner! He had been waking up 2-3+ times a night, but the times were very inconsistent. After three nights using this sound machine, he sleeps longer intervals, and I even hear him on the baby monitor, wake up and go back to sleep on his own, which he wasn't doing before. Before using this product, he would start to wake up and fuss until he was all the way awake. We tried letting him cry it out, when it was only an hour after he had been put to bed, but that wasn't working. He would just keep crying and couldn't soothe himself back to sleep. We had been using a little music box, with some luck...but that required going into his room when he woke up, and winding the box. He would sometimes quiet and listen to the music long enough to fall back asleep; however, sometime the music would run out before he was sleeping, and then the crying started all over again. Anyway, the music box stopped working, which is what prompted me to try this.
The things I really like about this product:
It has a timer, or will stay on all night. We leave it on all night.
Nature (white noise) sounds. We've been using the ocean one.
It has a volume knob for fine adjustment instead of just a "low/high" switch.
Things that could be better:
Volume knob is very touchy. nudge it a tiny bit and it changes the volume drastically.
Would like more nature or white noise sounds, I don't see us using the lulaby sounds much...they sound very "canned".
We don't use the projection...so I can't comment on that. I am not concerned about the other reviews discussing that feature not working.
So if you just want a good sound machine that will stay on all night or through naptime, this thing is great!
