For ALL SIZES:
First off, this isn't for overweight people - it's for everyone that has a pair of pants, whether a size 0 or size 16, that they wish were just a bit looser in the waist. With today's jeans and pants being low-rise, it's good for the waist to fit a little loose. ;)
My Experiment:
I took a pair of 98% cotton, 2% spandex jeans that measured nearly 13" across at the back of the waist. After using this device, they were too big at nearly 15" across! I was shocked to get an additional 2 inches across when there really wasn't a whole lot of fabric to begin with! I was thinking I'd be lucky to just get an extra half inch across! To get this big of a stretch, I used 2 of the white inserts and unscrewed the device to where 9 grooves were showing (you need to stop after seeing 9 grooves anyway, otherwise, it comes unscrewed altogether). If you find your newely stretched pants gap in the back, or anywhere else, you can spray them down with water, which will help shrink that area back down, or, simply stretch less next time.
Instructions:
Definitely read the directions, and before you start stretching, you want the device to be as long or almost as long as your pants are across, so start with as many white inserts as you can before stretching. Griping the jeans as close to the edge near the front of the jeans will also allow for more room to start with, thus, perhaps allowing one more white insert, so keep that in mind. (This will make sense after you have the device put together!) You'll also want to be careful to just stretch the waist rim so as to not have a bump in the back under the waist band.
Squeaking:
Mine had a very loud, annoying squeak. I already had some jojoba oil from the health food store (I eat very healthfully - the reason I'm so small!) and put a few drops inside the tube. I then wiped away any excess oil. This fixed the problem, and I'm guessing it's better for this device to be oiled anyway. The device seems sturdy to me, and I definitely feel good about this purchase. It's a wardrobe MUST HAVE!!!
