Perhaps there is no connection, but you be the judge. After taking Nutrametrix OPC-3 and their B Complex for two years, and rarely getting sick and then only mildly, my chiropractor stopped carrying it last September. I have never been one to put a lot of stock in vitamins, so I switched to another, cheaper brand of liquid vitamins bought from another source. I have been sick with viruses ever since - and VERY sick. I am just getting over my second round of bronchitis - my last bout was 26 years ago. The first bout put me in bed for two weeks fighting off pneumonia, suffering bronchospasms all night, and missing work. In between I have had 5 colds, the flu, and a lower intestinal virus. So I quickly ordered the OPC-3 and B Complex straight from the company and will never be off them again. Time will tell if there is a connection.
Here are some hints that I have gleaned in the 2 years I have taken these:
1. The dose is "one level capful". This is hard to get with the design of the bottle and the little cap. You will spill some on the counter every day if you are clumsy like me. So I measured and one level capful is about 3/4 of a teaspoon. I then transfer the contents to an airtight Rubbermaid container and scoop it out instead of pouring. You have to have the right amount of powder and water for it to be 'isotonic.'
2. The fructose in these products collects moisture from the air (or if you have any on the scoop) and it will clump up after a bit. To stave this off I keep the product in the refrigerator. Seems to give me a bit longer before the clumping hits.
When it comes to vitamins sold through professionals, I prefer to buy direct from the company. But that is just me.
