My bathtub is in need of repair, and due to that, there's some bizarre requirements for where and how you can step or stand without endangering yourself. Although I don't have any normal balance problems, I've had serious problems maneuvering in and out of my shower without depending on the soap dish bar and curtain rod and leaping out and actual risk to myself.
I saw this thing and thought for the price it was worth trying. I put it on the top side of the bathtub, right in the middle. It sticks well so far, after about a month. I actually put a great deal of weight on it, however note I am putting it mostly straight down on it -- not in a sideways pulling which would probably move it. It has made getting in and out of the shower decent and no longer dangerous, thankfully!
I would think if you were buying something to go on the wall, you should buy something that can be literally affixed with screws. Or be sure and put it somewhere that when the person puts any real weight on it, it's simply 'against' it rather than pulling it sideways, which is the weak point in any 'suction' based item. It's working well for me.
