My skin always became very sensitive and painful during menstruation from plastic pads. I was afraid to use tampons after I had a miscarriage and found out that chemicals used to bleach tampons could cause miscarriage. I heard about natural cotton pads and I thought I'd give it a try. I thought $30 for a set of pads was a bit expensive but now I can say I did not waste a penny. Some of the good features are:
1. no more sensitive and painful skin
2. cotton is very soft on skin and feels like just a thick underwear (not like rough plastic pads)
3. natural product is good for the body (it has natural light sand color, no bleach)
4. each foldable sheet absorbs well and the sheet holder is waterproof
5. the tri-fold sheet/pad can be folded in different ways on light days and doesn't have to be changed each time
6. washable, durable material, I think I will be using this for a long time (it will be cheaper than disposable pads over the years)
7. so, it is easy on my skin, my wallet, and the earth.
A few downsides: little bit messy to wash bloody cloths, and having to carry a zip lock bag to take the used pads home. I rinse the pads with cold water just lightly and soak them in water with baking soda for at least a day, amazingly all the tough bloody stains are off without rubbing. Then I just wash and dry them with rest of my clothes in washer and dryer. I don't have a better solution for having to take home the bloody pads, but I am using the bag that comes with the set to carry clean and used pads in separate zip lock bags when I go out.
So, overall I think this product deserves 5 stars.
