You get what you pay for in training pants. These are training pants not diapers and they work like training pants. They contain small accidents and the hidden PUL prevents your couch from being ruined. These won't contain a massive pee and if they did, they wouldn't be good trainers. Good trainers let your kid know they are wet and had an accident. A big pee might get their pants a bit wet. Big deal. The reason these are more expensive is that they are high quality, pure organic, and have a hidden waterproof layer that protects your stuff. If you want the same protection with a cheap pair of training pants you have to add one of those scratchy horrible rubber pants covers. Bleck-- too many struggles. I'd rather pay extra. The genius of these pants though is that contain poop as well as diaper so you'll be spared a really horrible accident.
Finally, these are made with natural untreated organic cotton. Amazon doesn't mention this but the good cloth diapering sites do. You need to wash them a couple of times normally to get the natural oils out of the cotton. They become much more absorbent when the oils are released.
We've washed them as part of a cloth diaper wash and a regular clothing wash. They were fine with our regular clothing and the regular detergent didn't cause buildup or anything.
