Customer Reviews of Kleenex Natural White Facial Tissues, 184-Count, (Pack of 24) [Amazon Frustration-Free Packaging]Customer Review: Don't flush ancient forests!
This product is on the Greenpeace list of paper products to AVOID. Old growth forests are being destroyed to make toilet paper, facial tissues, paper towels and other disposable paper products. I used to buy Scott & Kleenex, but I can't in good conscience continue, so I am buying Green Forest & Seventh Generation bath tissues from Amazon; they're every bit as soft and absorbent. Many big brands also still use chlorine bleach, a very toxic substance containing chlorinated organic compounds and dioxins, to whiten their product when safer methods are available. I've recently learned that if every household in the United States replaced JUST ONE ROLL of virgin fiber toilet paper (500 sheets) with 100% recycled ones, we could save 423,900 trees!! If you can't afford to buy all your paper from a green producer, maybe you could just replace ONE roll each time you shop. Here is your chance to make a small change that will reap big benefits for our environment. Please go to the NRDC and Greenpeace websites to see which disposable paper products use the most post-consumer recycled material and non-chlorine bleaching, and also to see how you can pressure the big paper companies to increase their post-consumer paper content. |
