Customer Reviews of Lansinoh 20435 Breastmilk Storage Bags, 25-Count Boxes (Pack of 3)Customer Review: LOVE these bags! Summary: 5 Stars
I exclusively pumped for my oldest son and didn't discover these bags until my last 2 months or so of pumping. They worked great and I wished I had found them sooner!
I just had another baby 3 weeks ago and am EP'ing again, so I stocked up on these in advance. I freeze roughly half of the milk I pump everyday and have only had to thaw 2 bags so far, but I have had no issues with leaks from the either the frozen/thawed or the refridgerated bags.
To the people who say these bags are hard to fill, what works for me is opening both of the zipper seals, then folding the flaps down over the sides and squeezing the bag at the seams to make it open. If I am filling it with a large amount of milk I rest the bottom on a table/counter just to make sure it doesn't slip out of my hands.
Someone else recommended thawing the bags inside of a ziploc bag because in the even that they leak, all of the milk is caught and can be poured into your bottle... that sounds very smart (and alot better than losing any milk) so I think I will do that when/if I have to use any of my frozen "just in case" milk!
Customer Review: The Best - And The Box From Amazon is perfect for freezer storage! Summary: 5 Stars
I have tried about a half dozen different freezer bags and am by far the most satisfied with Lansinoh's. And the value of the three pack is incredible (less than half the price of my local store currently). The only time I have had leaks has been the same cause as any of the other bags I tried - striking the bag while frozen. It doesn't necessarily take much, but all of the bags I tried leaked under the same circumstances so I can't complain. I love, love, love the double seal. Other brands if you get the teensiest bit in the seal, when it freezes it pops the seal open. Which as I would "burp" air bubbles would happen occasionally. With these, if you get a little in the first, you have the second one so no worries!
They do not "stand up" like some other brands, but I just pop them in a clean pint glass to fill (and usually just use a pumping flange as a funnel). The ones that stand up are not always the sturdiest either and that false sense of security cost me a few ounces to spills early on...
I am giving a box at baby showers now so the new Moms have a chance to try them out.
Customer Review: Great storage bags- Better than Ameda Summary: 5 Stars
I originally started with Ameda's storage bags to work with my Ameda pump. They seemed convenient because I could pump directly into them and they had a pour spout on the actual bag. What I found is that those bags were extremely inaccurate in their volume measurement and a lot of the fat in the breast milk seemed to adhere to the inside of the bags even after having warmed the milk under running water. Also, I didn't care to actually pump into the bag since it was not something that could be set down until the flange was removed.
I subsequently ordered the Lansinoh bags and was very happy with them in contrast to the Ameda bags. The measurement is significantly more accurate, they will hold 2 oz more than the Ameda bags (6 oz. vs. 4 oz.), and all of the breast milk makes it out of the bag. Also, because of the difference in shape, the Lansinoh bags freeze thinner (when frozen lying flat). The double seal is also a nice feature that the Ameda bags do not have.
Customer Review: Easy to freeze - even easier to thaw Summary: 5 Stars
Haven't had a problem with leaks so far. Make sure you don't drop them after they are frozen.
I did notice an odor with the first few bags of milk in my stash, but that may have been because they were kept in the fridge for a few days before freezing. Baby has not had any objections to the rest of the milk thus far. If you do notice an odor, it may be a problem with your breast milk having an excess of a certain enzyme (or something ... check out the breastfeeding sites for more info.) Just to be on the safe side on avoiding possible odors, I have been storing them in batches of 10 or 12 bags in a bigger ziploc freezer bag.
Freeze them by laying them flat (make sure you seal the bags well.) That will make them super easy to thaw.
The best indicator I have that these bags are great is that my husband likes them and has no complaints about them :-)
Customer Review: A must for pumping moms! Great price on Amazon! Summary: 5 Stars
I purchased these over the Medela brand based on the reviews & have been very happy with them. In the process of stocking up to head back to work & these make pumping-life so easy.
Pros:
-Easy to label the outside w/a sharpie so the date & content amount are easy to identify (don't rely on the measurement labels...I measure in the bottle from pumping first & then transfer)
-Good quality thick plastic & double seal. Helps maintain the components of the BM!
-Easy to thaw! I just put the bag in a cup of warm water & easily thawed in 2-3 minutes.
-COST! Buying it on here (in the 3 pack) saved about 50% over buying at babies r'us individually!
Cons:
-Wish there was an option to buy smaller bags for freezing smaller amounts. When freezing 2-3oz supplement packs, I feel like I'm wasting a lot of plastic.
