These bags are perfect for storing expressed milk. I've been using them to freeze milk for 4 months now and have been thawing the milk over the past two months. I expressed while I was at home with my newborn to release the pressure caused by an oversupply and to ensure I would have enough milk when I went back to work. When I have been in a hurry, I've purchased other brands from the local store and here's what I like most about this one compared to other options.
Tab - The tab at the top is a nice easy size to write on, and it's not on the lower part of the bag, so I can write on it easily after pouring my milk in and sealing it. This is great for me because I forget all the time!
Double Seal - Other bags I've used did not have a double seal and so after pumping at work when I'm in a rush to get off my break, the single layer zip will sometimes not seal all the way and leak. I have never had leaking problems with this bag, even though I frequently hold the bag upside down while carrying all my pumping equipment out of my manager's office.
Super thick - The plastic is very thick which is great. An emergency caregiver was trying to thaw some milk for my baby and heated it in some boiling water! The first bag of milk was in a different brand and melted in the water, releasing the plastic into the milk. I've also had people set things on top of these bags and they never tear or have any problems.
Lay Flat - These lay flat and stack better than any other brand I've tried. They thaw quickly and easy which is always important when you have a crying, hungry infant. (I do recommend you use this with The First Years Milk Storage Organizer
6 oz - And last but not least I really like that this holds up to 6 ounces. Right now I prefer to freeze in 3 and 4 oz measurements, but as my baby gets older (and sometimes when I'm in a super hurry) I like the ability to freeze more.
I don't like:
Spout - The spout on these is okay, but the zipper tends to get in the way. I always feel weird trying to pour out the last couple of drops that are stuck on the seal, but I'd rather have the double seal than not, so this is an acceptable loss. The First Year's storage bags were easier to pour however.
All in all I like this one more than either
