Customer Reviews of Lansinoh Breast Milk Storage Bags, 50-Count

Customer Review: Better than Medela
Summary: 5 Stars

After discovering that Madela bags can make your milk smell and taste rancid, I switched. But, I also did a little comparison work:

Lansinoh bags can hold up to 6 ounces of breast milk.
Medela bags can hold up to 5 ounces of breast milk.

Lansinoh: On the simplest level, the Lansinoh bag is easier to open and pour milk into than the Medela bag. The reason I find it easier is because of the material the bag is made out of and the bag is more pliable. You open the bag by removing a small strip that is perforated on the top. There are two seals on these bags, which is a huge plus. It's a comfort in preventing leaks.

The reason why Lansinoh wins the freezing process is because they lay flat very well. I've found that when laid flat, the bag freezes into a solid rectangle of milk that is consistent in thickness. It is also easy to "stack" once frozen which is very helpful for organizing. It's also important to squeeze all the air out of the bag which is much easier to do since there is not a large plastic section at the top, like in the Medela bags.

Medela: The Medela bags have the ability to be attached directly to a pump. As a result, there is a large plastic area on the top of the bag that is perforated. This makes these bags a little bit more awkward to open.

Lansinoh: Since these bags are fantastic for the freezing process, they are easier to thaw because they are consistently the same thickness. They look like a perfect rectangle of frozen milk. Or you can freeze the bag standing up. My husband loves how easy it is to thaw these out. Way easier than Medela.

Medela: Bag leaks when you thaw it and sometimes they leak in the freezer (which really is a mess). This is because there is only one seal instead of the double seal on the Lansinoh bags.

Customer Review: LOVE these bags!
Summary: 5 Stars

I have been using these bags almost every day for nine months now. I have not had a single leak yet! They make nice slim packages when laid flat to freeze, and fit in the freezer storage containers you can buy. The little curve really helps with pouring the milk out in a nice stream, but do know it requires two hands to avoid spills - my husband learned that the hard way. The double zipper is strong and clicks closed. The measurements on the bag don't seem accurate to me, but I go by the volume from a bottle before pouring the milk into the bag. There is a space to write the date and volume on the top of the bag, and you can use a ballpoint pin or a sharpie to do so. I believe that the people that have had leaks are probably overfilling their bags - breastmilk expands quite a bit when frozen, so you have to make sure there is space for it to expand.

I'm not sure if it's possible to pump directly into the bag, but really, it only takes two seconds to transfer milk from the bottle off the pump into the bag. If you're already washing pump parts, an extra two bottles is nothing. Like I said, I've been doing it for months and the dishes aren't that bad. :)

I have recommended these bags to friends, and they all agree that they're wonderful! My daycare provider even asked me what bags I was going to use for breastmilk storage, saying that Gerber bags had leaked time and time again for her.

Customer Review: Great bag, great service!
Summary: 5 Stars

After two babies that wouldn't latch, I resorted to pumping exclusively. After trying several brands of storage bags, I gladly picked the Lansinoh bags for all of my storage. I found that they held more milk (6 oz), the milk stayed good, and I hardly ever had leaks. The one time I did have leaks, it was associated to one lot, of which I had 2 bags. I emailed their customer service where they asked me to send in a few of the bags from the lot and they sent me replacements within the week all with no cost to me.

I used these bags with my Medela pump. You can pump directly into these bags, you just need to be creative. I used hair ties for my hands-free device and taped the bags to the device. I love that you can write on the bag after the milk is in the bag. Lay the bag flat to freeze for better storage.

I have recommended Lansinoh bags to all the moms I know that are pumping and storing milk. I really believe they are the best out there.

Customer Review: PERFECT!!
Summary: 5 Stars

These bags are amazing! I began freezing when my milk supply was huge so none of it wasted. They are easy to pour the milk into and great as far as storage. I have NOT experienced any leaks thus far. After reading some of the reviews I put a cheap sandwich baggie around the storage bag when freezing and thawing because I wanted to catch anything that leaked--but so far I haven't had any issues at all. I measure the milk out before I put it in the bag, because I have found going by the lines on the bag makes it a little off. Also, I squeeze all the air out before freezing and freeze the bags laying down before storing. I am never buying another brand because these are amazing! I am not sure why others had so many issues (those were older posts so maybe the issue is resolved now?) but they are the best thing that pumping moms can have!! Great shower present!

Customer Review: Great Bags
Summary: 5 Stars

These bags are perfect for what they are made for and I've never had a problem with leaks even though I've used hundreds. The double zip-lock ensures that even if a few drops don't make it into the bottom of the bag as your pour the milk in, they don't come out the top either. The end is sealed with a removable strip to ensure the bag is kept sanitary till needed. The end also has a convenience space to write notes, although you must use a felt tip pen or marker and give it a minute to dry or it will smudge. My only complaint is I don't feel as though the measured lines on the bag are accurate. I consistently would put 5 oz. in a bag and even when I let the bag sit up right it would read at least 5.5 oz. I didn't find this a big deal since I would always write the amount on the bag.
