Have his ready at home before your baby arrives because the second he gets here, you'll have no time to go to the store to get this and it is a must! If you decide to breastfeed, you will start breastfeeding IMMEDIATELY! And you will need this immediately!
While breastfeeding, there's always a period of trial and error between you and your baby. During this period of time, your nipples will hurt! And if you're unlucky, they will crack, they will bleed, they will be sore or worse, you may actually have raw open areas! It takes time for the latch to be perfected and anyone who tells you that breastfeeding shouldn't and doesn't hurt is just lucky. It will hurt until both you and the baby find your rhythm.
The lanolin is really really thick and it helps to soothe the nipple and keep a barrier on it from the outside world so any raw areas have a chance to heal while minimizing exposure to infections. I like how this lanolin is natural and is safe for the baby to ingest.
I used this product for the first few weeks and then after that, I think I got used to the feeling or my skin toughened up because I no longer use it (since there's no more soreness.)
