Customer Reviews of LifeSource UA-100 Home Aneroid Blood Pressure Monitor

Customer Review: Not accurate nor backed by warranty
Summary: 2 Stars

I purchased this believing that the digital meters were too innacurate and this would erase my fears. I was wrong. This meter is flawed, though seemingly well made. The first clue came when, after a series of recent trips to Kaiser for routine and urgent care problems, my blood pressure was 20 points below the readings I had gotten using this LifeSource UA-100. That's right, at the hospital or doctors, and sometimes during a crisis, my readings were much lower than at the peaceful sanctity of my home using this device.

Next, I bought Panasonic EW3109W Upper Arm Blood Pressure Monitor (White) Wow, what a difference. My numbers now match Kaiser, I can store the results in the memory, its fully automatic, and much, much easier and faster to use.

Customer service at this company was what ultimately drove me to the competition. I called once, and they told me to go to the Firestation, regardless that I was telling them that I was at Kaiser over a dozen times and the numbers don't jive. The next call to them was outright beligerent and belittling. When I mentioned that I thought using the analog method was more accurate than digital, I was told, "that depends on whose listening." Meaning, I am an old fart who can barely hear which is the cause of the meter's faulty reading. OMG! I am 46 years old with excellent hearing. But it does make a great point. An analog device is only as good as the human using it while a digital device is as good as the technology. The high ratings of the Panasonic and many other digital brands prove that, for the most part, technology has outpaced the fear of going digital.

So, if you want to toss away twenty bucks then this is the product for it. On the other hand, for a few dollars more one could get a RELIABLE, automatic, digital blood pressure gauge that stores results in memory and is easier and faster to use.

Hope this helps.

Customer Review: snap, crackle, and pop
Summary: 2 Stars

This blood pressure monitor appears to be well made and sells for an attractive price. Alas, the nylon material the cuff is made from makes audible noise when it flexes (deflates). As a result, it's next to impossible to tell when the pulse becomes inaudible. This renders it unusable.
