Customer Review: Wow - it works! I was actually pleasantly surprised!

My daughter is a little over 5. She had never had a dry night, and had been in pull ups at night for 2 years. They were soaking in the morning, so much that they leaked. I always thought/read that you should wait until she had at least one dry night before going through the night time training routine (and we weren't even close), and that some kids wet their bed until age 8. Yes, this is all normal. And she is such a deep sleeper, I was also worried about interrupting such good deep sleep. I don't want her to be exhausted during the day just for potty training. Also, my brother had an alarm growing up and it didn't help him, so I was skeptical for this.
But even after all these things that were making me hesitant, I thought I'd just try this. The kids don't want to be wetting their bed until age 8, even if it is normal. And our pediatrician said she is ready, that she just needs a little help cuing her body, and that it won't affect her sleep or sleeping patterns. Ok, I'll just see.
Wow - it worked. The first night I woke up with her every few hours with accidents. It was like having a newborn again. Not fun.
HINT1: get 3 waterproof pads and keep them by the bed, and have them sleep on the waterproof pad (or towel), so you can just change that out and don't have to worry about the sheets. Much easier to change and to wash.
HINT2: have them wear just a shirt and underwear. Easy to change - no night gowns or pants to get wet.
HINT3: I covered her with easily washable blankets (not her thick comforter which is hard to wash). These didn't really get wet for her, but you never know.
So that lasted 3 nights, where we'd wake up 3-4 times a night. Then the next 4 nights she just had 1 accident per night around 3:00am - and it only got her panties wet, not the bed (she'd stop the flow, go to the bathroom, change her pants and back to bed). That was doable. After that - we're done. Not an accident since and it's been 2 weeks. I'm amazed. I totally thought she wasn't ready at all. Turns out she was. She does get up by herself sometimes at 3:00am still and go potty all by herself and goes back to bed. She's not tired in the morning or anything. It's been great. She feels so big now and can't wait to have a "no pull up party".
The alarm is loud. We used the vibrate and beep sound together. Honestly, it did scare her. I didn't really like that she got scared at night when it went off - but it was highly motivating. She did NOT want that thing to go off. However, we have a tiny house and I was there within seconds of it going off so it wasn't too bad.
She's really happy now. It was worth it.
