This product works as advertised. Put in the AA batteries and you are good for many many hours of video watching. I've never completely drained a set of AAs, but would estimate that I get around 15 hours of video...I can't imagine how long the batteries would last just listening to music.
Yes, it is a little bulky compared to the size of the ipod. Also, the blue light can be a minor annoyance.
I lost the first one I had of these and was going to buy a different unit (one that was a bit smaller, used 9V and was cheaper) but in the end I knew this product did exactly what I needed it to do...play many hours of video without needing to be near a charger.

I ordered this last month.
It works great with my new 80 gig ipod classic.
I was on a 17 day trip of Europe and this thing was a lifesaver.
Surprisingly I only went through 12 AA batteries. The batteries last a long time and let me watch video for hours and hours. 11 episodes of the wire at one point. Line at the airport? No problem.
It is a bit bulky but I don't mind. I'd rather have this that be a slave to a wall plug.
The only problem is I live in Canada and Amazon will not ship up here (why?!) so it was a bit of a production to get this here.
Well worth it.

My parents were going to Italy for 2 weeks and wouldn't have any way of charging their new 4GB iPod Nano. I did a bunch of research and chose the maxell battery pack because it had (mostly) excellent reviews, it ran off of AAA batteries instead of some exotic battery that only radio shack sells, and everything else on the market received such poor reviews. When my parents returned, they said it worked perfectly. They were able to use the iPod the entire time and they never even needed to change the batteries! It is so nice when an object actually does what it was purchased to do.Customer Review: 20 hours +

This is great I have ipod nano 3rd gen the short fat video ipod. This battery pack lasted a 18 hour flight from LAX to Bangladesh, and about 2 days of nightly usage once I got there. Press the white button and blue led meter will show how much AA batt life you got. Remember charge your ipod to the max before you go. This is not a charger, but instead a battery life extender.You ipod battery meter will slowly start to go down, but it would take like 3 weeks for it to go down to nothing using this device. Only problem is that it is bulky, but bottom line it works!Customer Review: Served its purpose

This worked great with my video ipod, even though the description said it was not compatible. The suction cub keeps in place and doesn't wiggle. I was on a 6 hour plane ride and my ipod will only show one movie before the battery dies. I used this back up and I watched an addition 3 movies and still have a great battery charge. This item even stood up to the abuse of a three year old. It was dropped several times and tossed around...and it still works. I haven't even changed the batteries once. It was a great investment!
