I found this while looking for a traveling case/cover for the pill organizers I already have (the 2 x 7 Apex weekly). The measurements were about right. When it arrived, I discovered that it is made for 7 daily pill boxes. It has 6 cloth dividers forming 7 little compartments. I didn't want loose pill boxes, so I borrowed my wife's seam ripper and removed the dividers. Now my Apex pill organizer fits like a glove.
This thing is very well made. It looks like it's made of that ballistic material they use for luggage (and parachutes). Very tough. The sides have a little elastic for a good fit. The flap has a large Velcro patch for a secure close. Very good quality. It's also nice looking.
I was about to order 2-3 more for our longer trips when I decided to send the company an email asking if they might have one without the dividers. I got a very nice reply from someone telling me that they have a new product, the Traveler Pro, coming out this summer and to check their website (medcentersystems).
SugarChef makes a great observation. These daily boxes have 4 compartments (morning, noon, evening, night). If you only have pills twice a day, as I do, each case can hold 2 weeks of pills. This is a great idea. It's about 50% more compact than two weekly organizers. On a 2 week trip, I'd only need one case. Two cases would be enough for up to 4 weeks. This review is also on the MedCenter website. They also make a Traveler XL with larger boxes.
07/31/10 Update: Just back from a 3.5-week trip. This case worked perfectly. I took four Apex weekly organizers. I put one in the MedCenter Traveler and secured the others with Velcro straps. The one in the case was easier to handle and better protected.
08/29/10 Update: I bought a second unit and decided to use it with the dividers. I don't like it at all. The compartments are way too tight. They might loosen up over time, but I decided to remove the dividers on this one, too. Now it works much better. Here's how to do it. Cut the dividers as far down as possible, turn the thing inside out, finish cutting the dividers, then use a seam ripper to remove the dividers entirely. Be careful not to cut into the case when getting it started. The ends of each seam are well knotted. Once you get it started, it goes quickly to the other end. It took me about 20 minutes. These things are very well made.
