I purchased one of these seats and installed it for my mom who has left side weakness due to a stroke. I really was impressed by the overall construction and the installation was quick and easy, but after one quick testing I found that the seat tilts sideways if uneven pressure is applied when sitting or rising using the handles. Medline even states on their instructions that uneven pressure could cause a tilt and there are no braces on the sides to stop this tilting. This could be very dangerous for someone who has weakness on one side as they will naturally use the other side to compensate for this weakness. I don't know if the company has other similar products with side brackets but why they would release this one without indicating the potential danger on the box...well I guess we all really know why. If you were needing this seat just because of my size or some other reason than for an elderly person with weakness on one side then I would highly recommend this product, but if this is for an elderly person with weakness on one side...don't risk there life and limb, it's not worth it, stay with a standard four legged toilet seat adapter...PLEASE!Customer Review: Not pleased

I purchased this for use while recovering from a hysterectomy. It does provide a higher easier to use seat. I was disgusted to discover that urine had run down the inside of the seat and down the front of the toilet and onto the rug. Not a good thing to have to deal with while recovering from surgery.Customer Review: quit locking

I bought this seat for my elderly mother to use. I had to remove the toilet seat to make it fit. At first it clamped to the toilet bowl, with a little movement. After about a week, it stopped clamping securely to the bowl, and tipped when she used the handle for support. After trying to relock it numerous times, I had to stop using it. A man can't use this. The opening is way too small. Also seemed very unstable no matter how hard I cranked on the tightening knob. I finally went with a riser that mounted under the toilet seat. It wasn't quite as high, but more than adequate and very stable. I got this as recommended for knee replacement surgery. I can't recommend this product.
