Customer Reviews of Medline Transport Wheelchair with Brakes, BlueCustomer Review: An Excellent Purchase Summary: 5 Stars
We purchased this chair for our mother who needs mobility assistance. It is a wonderful transport chair. The larger rear wheels make the ride smoother. The chair folds easily. When folded, I can grasp it with one arm and place it inside or remove it from the trunk of a car. We haven't yet needed the foot supports. We use an ordinary pillow on the seat for comfort and so she can more easily sit and stand. The chair has been most helpful for doctors appointments, events, outdoor walks and indoors as needed. Although it was challenging, we even took it across a grassy field so she could pick blueberries. While the hand brakes and wheel locks work well, it shouldn't be parked on an incline. The chair fits through standard doorways and is easy to maneuver. The seatbelt is very helpful. The hand brakes, light weight and compact style make this model an excellent choice.
Customer Review: Great for walking paths, shopping, around town Summary: 5 Stars
When my mother-in-law became more frail, we originally bought a heavier transport chair that had smaller wheels (she accepted that better than a 'real' wheelchair). However, as she became unable to walk on her own, we found the transport chair not suitable for taking her on walking paths or excursions to the mall. We ordered this wheelchair because of the larger back wheels, the weight, and the price. It is GREAT!! Very easy to put into the car and very easy to open and close. She is a very tiny person, so for her the seat is quite roomy. It is so much easier to push than the other transport chair and moves smoothly over sticks and bumps. The brake handles on the back are genius; going downhill is a breeze and on more mobile days my mother-in-law can use it like a walker with wheels.
Customer Review: Lightweight and easy to use Summary: 5 Stars
This was a great deal. The price was lower than any other supplier in my area. I am 5'3" and 115 lbs and I was looking for a wheelchair that I could easily lift in and out of the car. This is the one! It even folds small enough to slide into the back seat of my Bonneville.
Any problems are minor and easily solved. My grandmother said its perfect except that she's used to a cushioned seat and this seat bothered her after an hour or so. I'll be adding a cushion to solve that problem. The foot rests swing out and come off easily which can make it tricky to put in the car with the footrests attached. You can solve that by simply lifting them off first or just struggle with them a bit like I do.
All in all, we love this chair and I don't think you can beat the value!
Customer Review: great alternative Summary: 5 Stars
This wheelchair is ideal for the caregiver who needs to move their loved one in and around the house, to appointments, etc. This style wheelchair works particularly well if the "occupant" of the wheelchair does not have the ability to move themselves as with the traditional style large wheel wheelchair. The 12" wheels allows you to turn "on a dime" especially where space is limited. What was really great too was that it was shipped and arrived quickly AND came fully assembled. Since then we haven't touched the old standard. We are so happy we made the change, and we would recommend this chair to anyone. To the cargiver who themselves have limited strength and mobility, this chair is much easier to manuever over just about any surface. I highly recommend the MEDLINE wheelchair!
Customer Review: Excellent product for the cost. Summary: 5 Stars
I had purchased a transport chair and was unhappy with the wheel size. I returned it and began researching for a more appropriate chair. I came across this model and decided to make the purchase. This wheel size is larger which makes it easier for him and for me to use. It's wonderful for my husband when needed and if it is necessary for me to take it with us when we leave the house I can handle it and get it into our trunk. Something I was unable to do when he had a wheelchair during recovery from hip surgery. The price was very good as our insurance company would allow us to rent with reviews to see if it was necessary and the co-pay with his insurance for a unit with much smaller wheels was $650! This was a worthwhile gamble knowing Amazon is a trustworthy site.
