Customer Review: give DE shaving a shot
Summary: 4 Stars

I've been using this shaver with derby blades, the cheap tweezerman badger brush and arko shave soap for about two months and must say it's been a very pleasant experience. I switched to DE when the replaceable shavers kept tearing my face up and causing ingrown hairs. To get the full effect of this shaving style you must use either shaving soap or shaving cream that you whip up with a pure badger brush, otherwise you might be kind of dissappointed. I used the merkur blade that came with it and prefer the derbies much better. I tried arko, williams mug and col. cunk's shave soap and found cunk's to be my favorite but I use arko the most. I also tried proraso shaving cream which I enjoy but not as much as the soaps. You must give yourself time to get used to using this shaver or else you will have many nicks and cuts. Your shaves will now take more time but I enjoy them so much that I don't really mind and actually look forward to shaving now. I do think that you can get just as CLOSE of a shave using a good replaceable shaver but they cost SO much more and wear out faster. This setup will save me a lot of money over the years and will also be better for the environment as I can recycle the blades and keep the shaver and badger brush indefinitely. Safety razor shaving is worth it but not a "perfect" shaving experience like alot of others on here state. I think I will be doing it for life though. Check out mantic59 on youtube for an intro into this old fashioned technique.

Customer Review: Very well made
Summary: 4 Stars

This is my first ever DE razor, so I can't compare it to anything, but the look and feel of it is really great! A real work of art. However, like everyone says, there's a learning curve with these things. My first attempt left me cut up and with a very rough shave, but I did notice one or two small sections on my face that were a lot smoother than usual, so I kept practicing. Now after five attempts I'm starting to get the hang of it and it really works great!

edit:
Okay, a few weeks later after much more practice, this thing definitely shaves much closer than my mach 3. With that thing I'd be feeling growth just 6 hours later, but with this I'm still smooth shaven when I go to bed. However, it is much harder to use. My face now comes out well every time, but mastering my jaw and neck has been a losing battle, so I'm switching back to my mach 3 for those areas.

Customer Review: Perfect double edge for the new or old users
Summary: 4 Stars

I spent a lot of time on forums before I took the plunge into the double edge shaving world. This razor is highly recommended by many longtime double edge users. I've been using Derby blades and Proraso soap with it and I get great shaves, especially if I do a third pass against the grain. This model has a heavier handle so you aren't tempted to press down (if you do most of your skin will go down the drain, with your stubble - which is true of any double edge). Really, this investment is worth it, it costs me about 40 cents a week to shave now, soap and blades, compare that to buying fancy Gillette blades. Spend some time on Badger and Blade forums and get a semi nice brush to go with it and shaving won't seem like such a chore anymore with this razor.

Customer Review: Beautiful but takes some getting used to.
Summary: 4 Stars

I love tradition. This is a beautiful razor. It's nice and heavy, very high quality and archaeologist will probably find this razor in almost perfect condition somewhere a thousand years from now. It does take some getting used to though, especially after 20+ years of pivot head razors that slime your face as you shave. It takes a bit more moisture and some finesse so there is a bit of a learning curve to using it. Things to consider: Trying a cheaper model to see if its for you before buying an expensive model. Trying an adjustable model that may be easier on your face. If you like this type of razor, it will pay for itself in a year over the multibladed, vibrating, slime your face with god only knows what type.

Customer Review: a great razor
Summary: 4 Stars

I've never used a DE razor before but decided to make the switch when my current batch of replacement Mach 3 blades was close to running out. This razor is really easy to user and after watching some instructional videos I had no problem picking up basic wetshaving technique.

The angle on the blade is just right for a close shave and even when I cut myself starting out it was never as bad as a disposable razor cut. The body of the razor is very solid and easy to hold. The weight is good and it feels like a product that will last me for years. It's way more fun to shave now and it's much smoother afterwards. Took some adjustment but after about two weeks I had no more issues.
