Customer Reviews of Merkur-Razor Double Edge Razor Blades

Customer Review: Great Blades!
Summary: 5 Stars

I recently switched to wet shaving and had been using the ONLY double-edged blades I could find at my local wally world. It was still a huge step up from my old Mach 3 but I decided to go all out and get some genuine Merkur blades to see if I was missing out. I was missing out.

These blades are head & shoulders over the lame ones you'll get at your local discount store. I've cut myself twice while shaving with these blades, but only because I was trying to rush myself. The blade seems sharper and it seems to hold it's edge much longer than the ones I was using previously. I've definitely noticed less tugging on the hairs.

Aside from the blade upgrade, the next best thing I did was buying grapeseed oil to replace my expensive art of shaving pre-shave, and buying some poraso shaving cream to replace my expensive art of shaving cream.

I've been shaving for almost 15 years and I'm just NOW getting the best (and cheapest) shaves of my life. GET THESE!

Customer Review: Sharp!
Summary: 5 Stars

These blades are fantastic! I bought them along with the Merkur Long-Handled Safety Razor #180. There's a huge difference between these and any other razor I've tried. I've used single blade, double-blade, etc etc, razors, and they simply don't compare. This went through a 3-day growth of beard without a problem. Disposable razors and even supposedly good razors with replaceable blades couldn't even come close. I used to get razor burn every time I shaved, but these blades are so sharp that's not really a problem any more. You do have to be a little more careful simply because they are so sharp, but that's really the only drawback. Also, since they are double-edged blades, I can use one side and my wife can use the other (they're marked with a 'I' and 'II' on the edge of the blade so you know which side you're using.)

Customer Review: Using them for a year... will never go back!
Summary: 5 Stars

I've been using a classic double edged razor (also made by Merkur) for about a year now; and I have to say that I'll never go back to "shaving systems." People have said that these blades are a mite unforgiving to beginners still learning to properly use a double edged razor, but I never had much of a problem. True, there is a small learning curve (how I wish the fathers of my generation had not been conned into the "multi-blade revolution" and had been able to teach us to shave properly). The rewards for taking the time to learn to shave properly are certainly worth the risks of a few stray nicks at first. Try them for a year in a well made razor and I'm sure you will never go back to bloated overpriced and not nearly as effective "shave scams"...er I mean systems.

Customer Review: Merkur Blades Second to None
Summary: 5 Stars

I've been using the real wet-shaving ritual for about a month now, and with my order of the Merkur 1904 "#48" safety razor came one of the Merkur Supers. I had also ordered a sample pack from Amazon and traded some of these for some that my roommate bought as well. Without a doubt, the Merkur blades hold the finest in my opinion. For a solid shave and blade longevity, I would suggest these. They are not the sharpest (I would go with Feathers or Sharks if you want really sharp), but they seem to work pleasantly in my Merkur razor. Just a side note, for blades I've used that are similar, try Lord, Big Ben, and even Bic Chromes. Overall 5 stars for Merkur's blades and 5 stars for Merkur in general.

Customer Review: Great disposable for the Dovo Straight Razor
Summary: 5 Stars

These can be snapped in half and used with disposable blade straight razor handles. Great blades that hold their edge for lots of shaves. When I was shaving my head, these are the ones that wouldn't dull on my coarse hair. If you're going to use a straight razor and don't want to invest in the premium ones, this is definitely a close second best (and a lot less work, since you won't need to keep your blade honed). Other double edge blades I've tried just didn't measure up and did not have the sharp precision blade of a Merkur. I'd like to compare the Merkur with others under a microscope. I bet those other blades are as jagged as they feel.
