I have a myriad of back issues. Last year I had 3 facet blocks. Icing does not work for me, perhaps because my muscles tense even more to cold. I was going to purchase the Thermophore, which a PT had used on me and recommended. I read the specifications and reviews on Amazon and brand site carefully. However,I opted for the Thermatherm, after similar research because of the its temperature control and timer options. I have had it for close to 3 months and use it often. I think the high [can be scalding]temperature on the Thermphore is too high for anyone to use without professional supervision. I love the timer option of the Thermatherm. If I dose off, I know it will go off automatically...or I can use the manual setting and keep it on.
Absolutely read the manual. Do not be put off by the instructions. In the end, the controls, once you read the manual, are simple and intuitive.
The dimensions are as generous as the largest Thermophore.It extends from my shoulders to the top of my thighs. The cover is removable and washable. It has a soft, though sturdy, flannel feel. The weight relaxes me. It is an unexpected feature. I like the appropriate heavy feel.
The Thermatherm is one of the best purchases I have made. I realized that since I began using, I have been able to self-treat successfully, and decided it warranted a most positive review and endorsement.

Description of Moist Heating Pads - TheraTherm Digital Rectangular Moist Heating Pad -14 X 27
There is no water to add, no water to boil, no dripping packs and no towels to prepare. Moisture is drawn from the humidity in the air and retained in a specially designed 100% cotton cover. When the hot pack is turned on, the retained moisture is rapidly heated by high-grade ceramics, forcing the moisture out of the flannel cover onto the patient's skin, allowing deeper penetration of heat into the bodys tissue. The moisture acts only as a means to transmit heat more deeply into the tissue, so only a small amount is needed. TheraTherm, unlike all competitive products on the market, has a digital hand control allowing the operator to program the following parameters: treatment temperature, treatment time and on/off. Competitive units, including Thermophore, require the operator to make continual contact with a single-loaded switch to generate and maintain heat from the pad. This is positioned as a safety feature. TheraTherm has a conventional on/off control switch. Automatic time control (1 - 60 min. timer) with auto shut off. Please note our return policy.
