Customer Reviews of Monistat Soothing Care Chafing Relief Powder-Gel, 1.5-Ounce Tubes (Pack of 3)

Customer Review: Good
Summary: 4 Stars

I was looking for something to keep my legs from rubbing together while working out. This stuff helps however you need a lot and there isn't much in the package. I should have bought from Wal-mart because it is cheaper there. I have used this as a foundation primer and it works well. Just make sure you use a good quality moisturizer underneath. Doesn't clog pores.

Customer Review: Great product, but do NOT purchase from Health and Beauty for Less
Summary: 1 Stars

The following was my original 5-star review:

These were just as described and arrived quickly. I bought the three pack because I had read somewhere that this item was being discontinued and I wanted to stock up (I use this as mineral makeup primer, and I don't want to pay what real primers charge anytime soon when this gets the job done for a fraction of the price), but from what I can tell in the CVS's I've been to recently, the product won't be discontinued anytime soon. I have no regrets, however, as buying this 3-pack did save me a few bucks--and time--in the long run.

The review above was based primarily on the shipping and handling aspects of the product I had received and not the actual contents in the package. When I received this 3-pack in December 2009, I was only halfway through a tube I had purchased from a CVS, and thus my comments about the actual product were based on my experience with the half-full tube I had been using before ordering the 3-pack from Amazon. I assumed the tube I was on was no different from the 3 tubes in the box, and so I assumed the product was no different from the ones that were mailed to me. Boy, was I wrong. When I recently opened one of the 3 tubes, I wondered why the texture of the gel was so watery and so different from the tube I had purchased in a CVS. It was then that I noticed that all three tubes had an expiration date of 01/2010...are you kidding me? All three tubes expired a month after I received them?! That is completely ludicrous. The tube I had been using before opening this package had been bought in the summer of 2009, and it took until now (June 2010) to go through the whole tube, and the empty tube still won't expire for another four months. I understand it might not be fair to expect all three tubes to expire in, say, the year 2020, but I think it is absolutely fair and ethical to make sure they have an expiration date at least a year past the date they are delivered. I don't think anyone in this world could possibly go through three tubes in ONE MONTH, but that is what I would had to have done if I wanted to use these while they were in good condition.

Long story short, great product as a face primer (sorry, can't review how it works for chafing), but try to buy it in person from a store so you can make sure the expiration date is okay. Actually, it seems that no one else is complaining about this, so maybe it is just the company I ordered from: Healthy and Beauty for Less. Do not purchase from this store, and choose one of the other options instead!!! I basically wasted 20+ bucks on these, since all three are going straight into the trash can. I don't know if this would still work okay, but I'm not willing to take the chance on my face. Oh and by the way, I know my review doesn't seem fair since I opened the package like seven months after receiving it, but even if I had opened it the day it was mailed to me, it still wouldn't have provided much use to me, as it takes me almost a year to go through one tube.

Customer Review: Made Me Break Out
Summary: 1 Stars

Everyone seems to love it but I'm not too happy with it. It did provide some protection from chafing on my inner thighs but not as much as I hoped it would. I'm not sure if I'm expecting too much in the humid South Florida weather but I expected more after rave reviews.

I also tried using it as a makeup primer because everyone raved about it working for that too. Now it doesn't matter how it worked in that function because ONE day after using it, I had two zits on my face and one on my inner thigh! I'm lucky that I don't generally get facial acne, and I've never had it on my thighs so it had to be the gel. Needless to say I don't think I'll be using it again - definitely not on my face!!
