This product is made out of a thin, easily pliable vinyl-like plastic as opposed to a thicker acrylic as I had thought. This made it easy to press buttons on my equipment through the plastic, including pressing eject, thereby forcing the plastic to fall off the front by the force of the eject.
I find it very difficult to believe that this company is one of the only ones producing such a product, and that the product is so deficient in so many ways... especially given that it costs as much as it does. I recently found a similar product made by Safety 1st that was thicker and cost literally half the price. Hopefully this cheaper and sturdier one will do what it says.
As we babyproof our house, we are seeing how too often babyproofing products are cheaply produced, ineffective or do not do what they say they will. This product is no exception.
