Good luck finding a scale for someone in your family who is 380 lbs. So many say they go up to 400 lbs, and when you look at the pictures, the dials show they don't go that high. Others look like they'll fall apart.
This one is accurate, looks nice, is strong and works very well. Yes, you have to step on, which "wakes it up", then step off--then step back on when it announces "ready." Some people have complained about this--really? Would the extra exercise be such a bad thing? Get real. This is very easy to use, and has been a reliable and affordable option for my son.
The picture is a little misleading because of the circle behind the scale. The scale IS rectangular.
The other nice thing is that the surface is quite large enough for him to comfortably stand with both of his size 18 feet!

I have been using a health care monitored scale for 2 to 3 years and elected to replace it with 550 LB talking bathroom scale, and I love this scale so much more because of the tenths reading. I can quickly determine from day to day weight gains from fluid retention or true gains, and know the action I need to do to help regain control. I wish I had thought of doing this simple change much sooner. I am totally pleased with my purchase. I weigh many pounds less than 550 and I prefer to monitor closely to get further away.

This scale has been working side by side with a medical scale at our T.O.P.S. (Take off Pounds Sensibly)Group and does a wonderful job. Weekly members will weigh in on both scales and find them equal and this one is fun since it talks to you. We have used it two years and still have not replaced the batteries... it keeps going and going. The only problem with this scale is that you have to wake it up with a tap of your toe... it can not just be stepped on it must be woke up. I love this scale because Now i can weigh my self.. Instead of guessing how much I have lost!! Being over the usual 330 or 400 lbs limit this scale is just what i needed!! Thank you for making something that can still look normal instead of those huge doctor scales!! I love this scale!!
At first: I was a bit confused how to get it to work lol But I figured it out..
Package came WAY before the date they gave I was expecting this to arrive 03.26.10 and it came on 03.11.10 Thank you for getting this to me so quickly allowing me to track my weight loss..

The scale is pretty self explanatory. The scale looks just like you see in the picture. The speaking voice is pretty loud, but then it's probably because of my echoing bathroom. I haven't checked to see if there's a volume for her voice. A slight tap on the scale and she wakes up, tells you when she's ready, weighs you, and tells you your weight. She even says "good-bye." So far, so good. It's not heavy or anything and can be easily moved, but just like any other scale, it does need an even flat surface.
