I have paper-thin nails. If I don't keep them painted at all times, they tear from constant bending. But I can't keep a manicure for long. Even with polish on them, my nails bend, causing air to get under the polish, which then flakes off. I've been looking for a strengthener for 20 years that will make my nails less pliable. Nail Tek Xtra is the best I've found. 2-3 base coats of Xtra make my nails noticeably harder. They bend less, tear less, and my manicures last a few days longer. If you don't like color on your nails, I suggest putting a clear coat on top of the Xtra, because it doesn't have an entirely smooth texture. Nail Tek claims that Xtra "corrects severe nail weakness". I can't say that it has corrected my thin nail gene, but it has helped my hands to look presentable. Previously only obtainable through salons, Nail Tek products have thankfully become more readily available. I used to get acrylic wraps on my nails every two weeks for four years and as a result ended up with very brittle and severely weak nails once I stopped getting acrylic wraps. I found Nail Tek Xtra and I swear by this product. It has been a little over a year since I found this product and have been using it ever since. My nails are visibly healthier and stronger. They grow very rapidly(though I keep my nails well manicured and shorter). It has been the best investment as well. I no longer have to get gel maincures or acrylic wraps to have my nails not breaking easily. Now I spend 6-10 dollars on a manicure every two weeks as opposed to 15 - 40 dollars on a manicure every two weeks.
