Customer Review: Better than prescription anti depressants , but still has side effects

I have been using Natrol 5htp 50mg for past 1 year for my PMS and associated problems as well as insomnia.I take them 2 hours before bedtime .

However recently I switched to 100mg 5htp and I noticed aggression in the day time , also the quality of sleep was bad with terrible and vivid dreams(sometimes nightmares) all through the night. I was waking up feeling mentally exhausted even after 8 hrs of sleep , and nausea .

Then I researched and found that 5htp indeed has side effects - though much less than prescription antidepressants.

So I stopped the 5Htp altogether after using for a year.
Now I feel much better and has switched to Ginko Biloba which has a calming effect .

Defenitely I would advice caution while taking 5Htp especially at higher doses than 50mg.
