Customer Reviews of Natural Choice environmentally-sensitive Diapers, X-Large Size 5, Over 27 Pounds (156-Count Diapers)Customer Review: My first diaper review Summary: 5 Stars
Customer review from the Amazon Vine™ Program (What's this?)
Before trying these I only had some basic ideas of what my review would be about. I made myself a little survey.
1. "chafing. noticed any? has he turned all red and purple and dry, or does it look like he has serious chemical burns all around the giblet regions?" The answer is no. His entire crotchal region is still fine. He has sensitive skin and we've have not noticed anything new, different or enflamed.
2. "leaking. do they leak? If he's out of our sight for 5 minutes now has he become easier to find because you can locate and follow the trail of what looks like split pea soup throughout the house?". No. We have not caught any leaks. These ones seem to be doing better than Target brand which were not fitting him very well and leaking a bit.
3. "closing. do these stay taped?" yes, he has not ripped any off with me and I have not seen one fall off.
4. "does he seem to like them more or less than whatever he was wearing before? I mean, if nothing has changed, that's fine. I just didnt know if maybe he seems to act like these are more uncomfortable than his original diapers." No. He has not noticed a thing. At first we thought they seemed a little stiff but he does not have a problem with them or at least has not made it known if he is uncomfortable.
As for the environmental claims, I just have to take those on faith. Without burying one of these in the backyard for a year next to a normal diaper, then exhuming them to compare the levels of deterioration, I don't see any way to know. The same goes for the claims of less chemicals, etc... Without taking these to a CSI lab to be electronically sniffed (or whatever they might do), I don't know of any way to know whether or not these contain and emit less chemical vapors.
All in all, they work as well as any other diaper with no leaks, runs, drips or errors, so if I add that in with the hope that the environmentally friendlier claims are true, that results in a heck of a diaper.

Description of Natural Choice environmentally-sensitive Diapers, X-Large Size 5, Over 27 Pounds (156-Count Diapers)Natural Choice diapers take an innovative environmental approach while incorporating super premium diaper quality. Natural Choice diapers respect your baby's skin, perform like a super premium diaper, and offer a competitive price. Like the highest quality premium brands, Natural Choice offers a stretch waist, full-stretch side panels, premium absorbency (with a bio-based absorbent) and a design-printed backsheet. But the environmental impact of Natural Choice diapers is very different from leading national brands. Approximately two-thirds of the materials used in the leading diaper brands are synthetic and are derived from non-renewable resources. The production of these materials consumes valuable petrochemical resources and in some cases creates adverse environmental impacts. Natural Choice Diapers are designed to reduce the environmental footprint created the the production and consumptiono of disposable diapers. Unlike most diapers, the absorbent padding material in Natural Choice diapers is totally Chlorine-Free. Dioxins and organochlorides are not released into the air or water. Natural Choice diapers also use less synthetic gel material in the absorbent core by blending an innovative bio-based absorbent matieral with traditional absorbent gel material. Finally, the backsheet and topsheet of Natural Choice diapers contain 50% plant-starch based Ingeo (TM) fiber, an annually renewable resource. Environmentally-Sensitive Diapers Natural Choice Diapers are designed to reduce the environmental footprint created by the production and consumption of disposable diapers. Natural Choice diapers also use less synthetic gel material in the absorbent core by blending an innovative bio-based absorbent matieral with traditional absorbent gel material. Natural materials reduce use of petrochemicals Natural Choice's environmentally-sensitive diaper uses backsheet and topsheet nonwovens that contain 50% Ingeo Fiber. What is Ingeo?? Ingeo? fiber is made from polylactide, a revolutionary new naturally derived material that comes from 100% annually renewable resources not oil. Ingeo™ represents the lowest carbon footprint polymer available in the world today. The entire manufacturing process from field to polymer uses 68% less fossil resources than comparable petroleum plastics. Natural Choice's environmentally-sensitive Diapers use 20-30% LESS petroleum based materials and 30-40% MORE sustainable materials than the leading brands. If 10% of the disposable diapers in the U.S. were environmentally-sensitive Diapers, it would reduce the consumption of petrochemical based materials by more than 20 million pounds.
