I fell off my usual low carb diet and really needed help: pizza, sweets, meats, breads - I wound up eating everything but what I needed to stay healthy. I went to 208 lbs from about 188 in that time, so I chose to try my fiancee's Neera Master cleanse since she had bought two cans. When my mindset was in the right place, I got a bunch of lemons, made 3 quarts and the following day, began a 7-day attempt.
Needless to say, I am surprised at how my cravings weren't as brutal as I had thought. I loved the smell of foods that were carried past me, and on one occasion, I wasn't prepared to smell the scent of a luscious, fresh-baked pizza that went past me while working on my computer at work. But with my determination already set, I resisted the urge to give in.
I'm just two days past the finish of my cleanse, and I lost 15 pounds. I would think that at least 5 pounds is water weight, but nonetheless, the numbers speak for themselves. I think that the most important thing to consider is to make sure you're mentally ready to start. There were times that I thought too much about cravings, and the first 2 days were a little dicy for me. I started getting morning headaches, and that may have been because I hadn't properly hydrated. Also, it may have been a bit of starch withdrawals. But after the third day, I didn't get any more. I felt more chilly than usual, and it didn't help that I started the cleanse during the coldest part of the winter so far.
Anyway, that's my own take. It's not considered a diet per say, but a cleanse. Your body will be removing toxins, and the chemicals that can be stored from eating all these processed foods. One of the byproducts of taking part in it, is that your tongue turns white for about a week, as your body purges the impurities. And you tend to get an unfavorable breath. Brush regularly. I chose to chew on gum (while not swallowing the liquid in my mouth) to freshen up during work. I wasn't so strict as to keep every single rule: for instance, it's suggested not to chew gum or take aspirin during the cleanse.
I also had gotten some grade B maple syrup, and tried that blend in one bottle. It just wasn't as thick and satisfying as the Neera blend. But my headaches aren't something to ignore, especially when at work. But even though I did those, I still did better than I thought. And I look forward to doing the cleanse for a longer period in the spring.
