Customer Reviews of Nonin Go2 Achieve Fingertip Pulse Oximeter, Blue

Customer Review: GO2 is an excellent device for home health use
Summary: 5 Stars

I think this Nonin model is very good for home health care purposes. It is FDA approved and if your doctor advises to get one I'd suggest getting a prescription and checking the nonin.com or medical supply sites to see if you can get any help with insurance coverage because some plans do cover them with a doctor's Rx. I have one for my mother in law and it helps a great deal. I've never had a problem with it and if anyone does have a problem they should contact Nonin's customer service. I did extensive research before choosing this model. What I liked: All Nonin products come with a two year warranty. They are FDA approved and are made in USA. Nonin products can (and should be) registered for warranty purposes (can find that on their website also). The O2 saturation will read levels 0-100% and heart rates 18-321. With an Rx some insurance plans will cover all or part of it's cost. If the device is purchased with an Rx, Nonin has a patient guide to pulse oximetry for medical monitoring purposes.

I found the product well made and reliable. I like the design, I like the cheery blue color (also comes in green and orange). Sorry I sound like a commercial but I researched these and asked around with her respiratory therapists and other sources and this brand is highly thought of and the GO2 (LCD OR LED model) are good enough to be recommended and used in home care situations and covered by some insurance. We have no complaints about the one we purchased at all. It works and does so reliably. Oh, also I crossed checked it with models at her pulmonary doctor and it is pretty spot on. The AAA battery lasts a very long time and is easy to change though I've had not need to change it yet.

Customer Review: Bought for my COPD 82 Year Old Dad
Summary: 5 Stars

My dad regretfully smoked most of his life and now has COPD and uses oxygen 24/7. He is likes toys so I bought this for him. My Thinking was he would "play" with it and he could see what his oxygen level is. Then if he saw his level was "bad" he might become more serious about taking care of himself (He don't like using the oxygen because it's a hassle to carry around).

Believe me when i say my dad is "technology impaired". He thinks a digital watch is high tech, never used a computer, uses a old nextel cell phone and my mom has to turn it on for him. Oh and I won't bring up how hard it is for him to learn how to use a new tv remote. Let's put it this way, my mother has to turn on the tv for him. To his credit he has figured out how to turn the tv volume up and down..... after about six months of trying.

So you can understand that I was looking for something that was simple to use. Simple to use but quality too.

This meter fit the bill to the nth degree. This baby is perfect. The first time he picked it up he was using it. It has become his "play pretty" as he puts it. He carried it to the doctor to make sure the reading matched what his doctors meter said. According daddy "his" meter is as good as his doctors meter.

Well this is my first amazon review in ten years. I felt that I should tell how easy and good this meter is for older people since not many people like my dad writes reviews on "that internet thing" haha.

Oh I bought the yellow colored meter and this review is for the blue one but i seriously doubt there is any difference.

Customer Review: We were told you couldn't get this sort of thing
Summary: 5 Stars

Upon leaving the hospital after a recent visit no one mentioned that we should be trying to monitor my wife's O2 saturation. (she had had pneumonia and a small heart attack). A week later her doctor measured her Oxygen saturation and said she should be on oxygen until he pneumonia cleared up. When the medical supply company came with oxygen equipment, I asked if their was anyway we could monitor her saturation. He said there was a device, but it cost $500 and wasn't covered by insurance.

A friend suggested I check on e-bay. They had a wide variety of devices between $10 and $50. Not wanting to deal with e-bay hassles I called the local pharmacy who said it was "medical equipment and they didn't carry anything like it (though they have plenty of other medical devices like blood pressure and glucose monitors.

I finally check with Amazon and lo and behold they had these devices that ranged in price from the mid-50's to over $200 dollars. I pick this one that seemed easy to use, accurate enough for our purposes, and could be shipped quickly. Now we don't have to guess about her oxygen absorption. And it gives a pulse rate and pulse strength reading too.

We've had no problem with it. Even though her need of supplemental oxygen should be temporary, this device allowed us to see her oxygen state under different conditions. We are glad we found this product. BTW, when we showed it to the Dr. who originally order the oxygen, she was amazed. She didn't know such a device could be purchased so cheaply for home use.

Customer Review: Rugged and reliable
Summary: 5 Stars

I've used several oximeters from various manufacturers, and the Nonin GO2 is the only one that has survived my somewhat demanding use... I carry this device with me at all times, including during heavy (for me) outdoor work in temperatures from freezing to +95 Deg-F, and at times have inadvertently allowed it to become splashed with water (although not immersed or soaked). After one year, this device has caused absolutely no problems. It has been used 5-10 times per day, including one continuous 20-30 minute treadmill session nearly every day, and the battery has required replacement only twice during its first year. Accuracy comparison with my primary care provider is very good, agreeing within 1-2 percent when used simultaneously with the 'Office' instrument.

I don't usually elaborate on products (my reviews for the past year range from 1-star to 5), but as a practicing electronics engineer for over 30 years, I really appreciate the rugged reliability apparent in this product.

Customer Review: High quality pulse ox meter for the price (or any price)!
Summary: 5 Stars

I bought the Nonin GO2 for my mom who uses oxygen at night and has had blood oxygen saturation problems lately. Her level is normally 97-98 but sometimes drops to 90. I wanted her to know when it got low. I researched several brands of home meters. Nonin, I learned, makes professional models costing hundreds. But the GO2 uses the same technology in the home use meter. The difference is that the GO2 is not "certified" thought technically its just as accurate and reliable as a professional unit. The meter is very easy to use. It automatically turns on when placed on the finger. It takes 5-10 seconds to give O2 level and pulse rate. Then it shuts off automatically once removed. A single AAA battery lasts about 4000 readings. It has a great warranty (2 years) and seems very accurate. Highly recommended product!
