My baby really enjoys this product--she likes strong tastes in general, and she likes the taste of fats and oils, so it's probably not a big hit with all babies, but I was really surprised--she takes it very happily, and grins when I ask who wants cod liver oil. It doesn't taste bad to me but it is quite fishy. I started giving it to her at 4 months old. I have concerns about the algae-engineered version of DHA, because some people say it might be contaminated with hexane and also because it seems like a mix of DHA & EPA as found in fish would be better. There's a book by Nina Planck called real food that says that breastmilk in the U.S. actually doesn't has as much omega-3 as other countries. I think she would recommend that mothers eat plenty of fish but also switch to grass-fed dairy & beef and pastured eggs, but these things are quite expensive and not available everywhere.Real Food: What to Eat and Why
