Customer Review: ribose and chronic fatigue

After reading some of the reports on ribose and CFS (chronic fatigue syndrome), I decided to give it a try. It takes a lot to convince me to try something, as I feel there are a lot of snake oil meds out there. This one passed muster on paper, but how would it stack up in reality?
Let me start by saying I didn't noticeably feel better. Lucky for me, I didn't have to rely on how I felt. A month before starting this, I had gotten a pedometer to help me measure my activity, and warn me when tunnel-vision was blocking my warning signs of getting too tired. I averaged about 2500 steps per day. I was able to reach 3500, but paid for it for a couple days. After 2 weeks on the ribose, 5 grams 3 times a day, my average was 3500 steps without downtime for days afterward. This number continued to rise as I continued taking the ribose, getting up to 5200 steps, although I did pay for that one for 2 days. This was measurable proof that didn't rely on how I felt.
If I had to guess, I would say that my down time was shorter after activity, so I was able to get up and do more throughout the day. That is what kept me feeling tired, although more was getting done. The only side effects I noticed was that I craved a cookie less often during the day, and craved salty nuts instead. If I did have a sweet, I wanted less of it, such as 1/2 cup of hot chocolate instead of a whole cup. To me, that's a win-win. More activity, less sweets = less weight. I can't say for sure, but I think my pants fit looser. I've experimented taking the 5 grams all at once 3 times/day, or sipping that over several hours. No definite advantage either way yet.
For a certified tightwad and skeptic, I'm going to keep buying this. If I can work a bit longer each day, I think this will pay for itself.

add some sea salt with the D-ribose to water and your body cells with take up the water easier than they do plain water.
put it in reverse osmosis distilled water for best results.

I wanted to buy 1kg of d-Ribose from NutraBulk. They sell it for $5 less than Amazon, but the NutraBulk "Terms & Conditions" are shocking. They quite openly say that they may lose your order, and they do not have to replace it. Then they end up with this crazy demand: "You agree NOT to leave us negative feedback if such a condition exists."
After I read that, I sure as heck did not want to do business with NutraBulk. So I came back to Amazon to purchase NutraBulk's product. Now here is the big disappointment; Amazon does not sell NutraBulk's product. They advertise it on Amazon. But when I tried to buy it, it turned out that I was buying from NutraBulk, And I do not want to buy from a company that may not deliver.
This is not the first time I have encountered this problem with Amazon. I needed to replace a DVD, so I ordered it thru Amazon from a company called moviemars. I paid extra for Expedited Delivery, but got nothing for a week. Just so you know that I know what should have happened, I found a copy that Amazon was selling directly, and Amazon delivered it in TWO DAYS.
Meanwhile, moviemars sent me their version of Expedited Delivery. Read it and weep:
"Expedited approximate delivery time is 2 to 5 business days after
processing.
Please allow 1-3 business days for your order to process and ship out.
Total delivery time = Processing time + Shipping time."
As best I can tell, Amazon no longer requires their suppliers to meet Amazon standards. The good will and good reputation that Amazon built up with their reliable delivery and easy return policies no longer applies to many [perhaps even most] of their products. My reaction is that I no longer go to Amazon first for my purchases.
