Customer Reviews of Omron HEM-711AC Automatic Blood Pressure Monitor with Standard CuffCustomer Review: One of the best Summary: 5 Stars
I have had 3 blood pressure cuffs. This one is the best. It stores measurements including pulse. Wrist cuffs are a waste of money and can give you inaccurate information. Bicep cuffs are the best. Omron has a very good reputation among health professionals. A word of caution, you need to use the cuff properly and to always use it the same way. It is also important to take several measurements (2 a day) when you are measuring trends. And you need to average the results for 4-5 days. If you do this you can manage your blood pressure through a combination of drugs, exercise and diet. A good set of records will allow you to measure your progress. For example, if you want to know the benefit of an exercise program (benefit in reducing BP) you can measure this. The same is true of low sodium diet. This cuff is very good and with the AC adapter you can make many meausrements and depend on the consistency of the measurement if not the accuracy. Consistency is important. Good luck.
Customer Review: Works great! Summary: 5 Stars
This monitor is much more accurate than my old "pump" type Omron - spot on with the doctors office every time so I know I can trust it at home. Standard cuff fits my arms just right (I'm 5'2" and 128 lbs at 49 years old - just saying since this is something I wished was in more reviews to help me know what size cuff to buy). I've had no problems at all with error readings - I suspect those that have maybe had the cuff on wrong (or wrong size cuff) or moved during the process - you do need to sit still so be in a comfortable position before hitting start. Love the memory feature and irregular heartbeat function. Blood pressure readings almost always vary from reading to reading, even at doctors office, so you have to realize that is normal and not any fault of the machine. Take a few minutes to relax after setting up before hitting start to get most accurate reading. Don't cross legs and breath normally. Unless you got the occasional "lemon", this BP monitor works great!
Customer Review: Good deal for the price Summary: 5 Stars
I recently bought this cuff because I'd been asked to monitor my B/P by my doctor. My brother had done some research and this one came recommended, so he bought one. I tried it, and it was easy to use and had good instructions. If the cuff was another inch longer it would be perfect for most men. I bring it to work to take my pressure around lunch time, and other coworkers have tried it. It is borderline for most of the males, and for me it just fits, but I'm only 170-175 lbs. The 200 pounders are right on the edge of it working for them. They hold it shut so the velcro doesn't let go. If you are over 200 lbs., get the larger cuff. I went to the discount department store chains and the model below this one w/out an electric cord was $10 more and this unit was $20-30 more, so it was worth going online to buy it. I also brought it to my Drs. office when I went, to see if it was calibrated correctly and it was very close to what they got.
Customer Review: Happy With It Summary: 5 Stars
This review is for the HEM-711AC, with the "normal" cuff. First, getting the AC adapter was worth the extra small amount of money. We go through plenty of batteries in this house already! It will work with batteries if you want to make it portable, though. I struggled with the decision about the regular cuff, or larger "comfit" cuff. My biceps are 12.5" in circumference, just under the 13" limit for the regular cuff. Well, the regular cuff works just fine for me and although I've never taken it to the doctor's office, seems to give readings comparable to what I get there. It takes just a bit of practice, but now I get remarkably consistent readings from day to day if I take my BP at roughly the same time and IF I'm relaxed. One thing this machine has brought to my attention is just how much being stressed or anxious increases my BP. A LOT - maybe 20 points, both top and bottom. For around $43, this was a terrific value.
Customer Review: A Life-saver --- My husband's! Summary: 5 Stars
We had an older Omron Blood Pressure model for years, so we knew of "Omron" quality. I decided to update to the auto-inflate model which is more convenient as well as more accurate. My husband has high blood pressure which is under control with medication, but still he does a monthly check to make sure his pressure is okay. One morning at the breakfast table he said that he felt weak and had a fainting spell during the night. I immediately took his blood pressure using our new Omron monitor which showed a normal reading for his blood pressure, but his pulse reading was extremely high. His doctor, when I called, ordered us to go to the Hospital emergency room immediately where it was discovered that he had a bleeding ulcer and ordered surgery immediately as well as a blood transfusion. Had we not had our Omron, I hate to imagine what might had happened. Omron is a great product, and we'll always have one!
