The cuff is a wonderful product. I have had very poor luck with previous cuffs and was very reluctant to order any cuff, but this one performs perfectly. The cuff itself is molded to the arm, which makes it very easy to position. It has a large, blue line that is to be aligned with the middle of the hand, so there is no guesswork about how to position it.
It is fast!--so there is minimal discomfort. With a simple switch from A to B, two people can use it and maintain individual blood pressure and heart rate histories. To see an average for the week, you simply press the sun or moon symbol to get averages for morning or evening hours. The "list" icon will give you a review of recent individual readings.
The display is large enough to read easily. The manual explanations are amazingly clear and logical. The case is attractive and large enough to easily store the monitor; it even has a handle! I am delighted with this product. And it is less expensive than others that I have purchased and ended up not using.

The cuff is very easy to put on with one hand. It has a firm part that wraps around your arm that is then secured with velcroe. The firm part grips your arm and makes it much easier than trying to wrap a loose cloth, one-handed around your arm. It has settings for 2 differnt individuals and keeps results for a.m. and p.m. readings so you can check your average and go back and review individual days. It also has a setting to enable 3 readings to be taken one minute apart, so you have a good average for each measurement (this is a suggestion I have read about in taking your blood pressure - multiple readings averaged). You can also over-ride the individual settings, so a 'guest' could use the monitor without it storing the readings under one of the normal users. I assume the readings are accurate as I measured once at a local pharmacy's machine and it was about the same reading as my Omron unit. It comes with an electric plug and batteries for backup/travel. I am very pleased with the unit and feel it was very reasonable priced.Customer Review: Easy-to-use, accurate & right price

Initially purchased one for my parents to keep track of their blood pressure on a regular basis. What I liked:
- Very easy & convenient to use.
- Keeps the history for 2 people. you can change the setting before taking the reading and it will remember the readings for day/night & the week.
- You can view the readings from the history using a very easy graphic display.
- Averages 3 readings depending on the settings.
- Accurate within +/- 5. (Verified the measurements from a doctor)
- Ideal to keep track of your blood pressure on a daily basis and relate to your lifestyle to take preventative measures.
- Comes with batteries and a power adapter, good for use across US, Asia, Europe.
Encouraged by the good results, my wife bought one more for her parents and both the units are working great since last 3-4 months.

No, not New Orleans. The "Big" size makes it easy to read (important for people with limited vision) and it is very user friendly and "Easy" to operate and read.
I bought this for my 91 year old father who has to monitor his blood pressure. He has poor eye sight; he has trouble listening to a stethoscope; and he has trouble hand pumping the manual monitors. The stethoscope/hand pumps may work for doctors and people on a limited budget but they really aren't designed for an elderly patient to operate by himself. We tried the wrist (watch type) they weren't very accurate.
I wouldn't trust the numbers on this monitor to decide whether or not to have heart surgery, but this monitor is fairly accurate and consistent. It has an automatic electric pump and the arm sensor is fairly easy to put on. All things considered I recommend the Omron HEM-780 highly for accuracy; ease of operation (especially the elderly), ease of reading the numbers, and a good value for the money.

I own the 711ac and bought this recently(780) as a back-up and it is the better quality(so far).Both are accurate;I checked the 711ac against my doctors and it is very close and the 780 matches the 711ac in readings .The friend of my friend is my friend.But the quality and cuff and features of 780 are more pronounced and ergonomically a shade or two ahead.Both are fine machines, but the features and ease of use are slightly better.Is it worth +$16 more for the 780?Check the list prices and the better value is the 780.But I don`t see you going wrong with the 711ac unless arm size is an issue;the 780 takes a larger arm size..Note added 19 jan 2007 after 1 replacement and many tests, I would amend the above comments and go with the lower priced 711ac.The 780 brings up many abortive readings if it is not cuffed just right and overall it is NOT easier to use than the 711ac(ergonomically,it is slighly cumbersome)Save yourself the $16 and go with the excellent Omron 711ac.
