Customer Reviews of Oral-B Brush-ups, Textured Teeth Wipes, 12 wipesCustomer Review: Great when I can't brush with a toothbrush Summary: 4 Stars
My dentist gave me a sample pack of the Brush-Ups, so I took some on a plane trip the next day. I really like them! I had some snacks on the plane and really wanted to brush afterwards but couldn't - then I remembered I had these so I got a pack out and voila - my teeth felt clean for the rest of the flight. They don't take the place of brushing of course, but when I can't brush they make my mouth feel a lot better than gum or nothing would!
Customer Review: Meh... Summary: 3 Stars
While this product does freshen your breath & get the overall gunk off, I have to say that unless you rinse your mouth out well beforehand you'll have gunk left in your teeth.
I tried these over a 2 month period (I bought quite a few of them on sale) & I was underwhelmed. The first go-round I found little bits of gunk stuck in my teeth, which made me have to rinse my teeth out liberally afterwards & floss. After I rinsed my teeth out well beforehand, I had better results.
I'd recommend these for when you want to get a bit of a fresher breath during work but haven't had a meal or anything. If you've drank some coffee & want to avoid the coffee stench afterwards, this is the thing for you. Otherwise you'd be better off just brushing & flossing as normal.
Customer Review: Not good enough... Summary: 3 Stars
I tried these after eating a meal in a restaurant. It actually removed yellowish stains from my teeth! And it also left a pleasant minty flavor. However, I looked in the mirror later and was HORRIFIED. All the bits of chewed food had been pushed into the spaces of my teeth. It was absolutely disgusting. The Brush-Ups don't get the food bits out? Then what's the point!?! I recommend a toothpick instead of Brush-Ups. 3 stars for effort and taste.
Customer Review: Bad brush, goofy use, expensive Summary: 2 Stars
This product is really bad. The main problem is that the "brush up" hardly brushes at all. There is no difference here from just rubbing your teeth with anything. Your teeth do not feel clean after (see below for what does feel clean), and you still have the feeling like you haven't brushed your teeth. The second problem is that these really only fit small fingers. I have a larger hand and the brush up would only fit on my pinky finger. You also cannot get far enough back in your mouth because you're sticking your finger back there. Finally, the product is very expensive for what it does. A minor point is that you look pretty silly sticking your finger around your mouth, and if you try to reach far back, you'll get saliva on your finger/hand too.
The only reason this is a 2-star instead of a 1-star is because it does have some breath freshener... in fact, this is the only real effect of this product. You could get the same result by taking a napkin, pouring some mouthwash on it, and rubbing it on your teeth. You feel like you have some breath freshener, but you do not get a brush (which is supposedly the point of a brush-up).
This product is a gimmick, my wife and I went through one pack of these. Just stick with some mouthwash and you'll get more for your money and feel better. You need a real toothbrush to get a brush still.
Customer Review: Works, but not well enough for the price Summary: 1 Stars
I've noticed that a lot of the people who like these have children who are actually willing to use them because of the novelty. I really can't argue with that point. They do help in cleaning your teeth and freshening your breath, but I don't have children and I don't think they do nearly a good enough job for the price.
It's not a bad idea in and of itself. They certainly don't take up any significant amount of space, and they aren't likely to make a mess. The promotional information says that your saliva won't seep through the material and get to your finger, and that's true.
But, and I really tried to make these work for me, you don't get any more of a fresh or clean feeling from using these then you would by using a paper towel or some sugarless gum. I'd go so far to say that you get more significantly breath freshening power from gum.
They're better then nothing for kids to use after a school lunch I suppose. But, compared to these, I would rather carry around a pack of sugarless gum.
