yea, so i'm EXTREMELY picky about oral hygiene....i'm 30 and have never had a cavity so yup i'm pretty picky with what i use. i had 2 other electrical toothbrushes previous to this all being oral b. the first one died so i picked up the oral-b vitality which was about 30 something bucks. it did the job well but died after a year or less, which was disappointing, and it didn't charge well. but if you're looking for a cheaper alternative than the oral-b 4000 then you can go with the vitality. i used it and after using the 4000 it seems to have the same amount of oscilation.......i don't know if it does as i haven't looked at the specs of the vitality, but i never got any negative check-ups with my dentist when using the vitality. although, i don't use it for the 2 minutes that they state is enough, i tend to brush longer. in regards to the 4000 it's a nice toothbrush. it gets the job done and i like the fact that it has 4 settings (regular, sensitive, polishing, and deep clean) i use deep clean and polishing and yup after my brush my teeth definately are shiny. it also does reach all the way back to my wisdom teeth area with no problem, yes i still have my wisdom teeth, lol. and i'm able to brush my tongue with it too. i think i read before that someone said this was messy and splashy, but i didn't have that problem at all. when i want to change settings i just put the toothbrush low into the sink and change the setting so that it doesn't splash toothpaste everywhere. but all in all i dont have anything negative to say about this brush. i get a great cleaning, reaches my wisdom teeth area, and i'm able to brush my tongue with it aaaaaaaand it comes with a 2 year warranty so it gets an a+ from me :)
