Our first Oral-B finally died after 10 years, so we replaced it with this Professional Care SmartSeries one, and we all noticed our teeth felt cleaner than ever when running our tongues across them. On the plus side, it cleans great and has a nice 30 second reminder to move on to the next quadrant. We have the 5000 series that includes the visual timer, but it is definitely only a nicety. If you just want the toothbrush, just purchase the 4000. Our 5 year old does like the smiley face the timer makes at the end, so I must say it does help get her to the 2 minute mark. Also, the visual red light really helps show you when you are pushing too hard on the brush, so if you have issues with that, I would opt for the 5000. The travel case is a nice touch and the battery lasts about a week if just my wife and I are using it twice a day on a trip. The charger is portable, though, and reasonable small to toss in your toiletry bag.
The only down might be that it does not appear to save your setting if you had a preference of brushing styles. Every time you turn it on it defaults to the initial setting, but it is easy enough to get to the sensitive or other setting with the touch of a button. My wife and I use the default setting, but if this were just being used by my youngest daughter, it would be nice if it stayed on sensitive as that is what she prefers as the regular setting hurts her gums a little (as her teeth as smaller as they are still her baby teeth.)
Overall this is an awesome product that we would highly recommend!

I waited a year to write this review, and I still love this brush just as much now as the day I took it out of the box! The charge on this brush easily lasts for a week-long vacation, and after one year, the low battery light finally came on on the little clock/smart brush guide thingie just the other day. At first, I thought the smart guide thing was silly, but it really does work! It must simply appeal to our inner kindergartner, making us want to earn that gold star. Or in this case, the smiley face that lights up after you brush for 2 minutes. I am a lazy brusher, and this little thing really does motivate me to brush longer and pay attention to what I'm doing. Also, my teeth feel amazing after i brush with this thing, but it has never hurt my gums...and i have very sensitive gums. This brush also comes with a little travel case that i have found very handy and interchangeable heads with little colour coded rings. The different heads pop on and off very easily. So, you could realistically purchase this one brush for more than one person to utilize. If you're on the fence about which brush to purchase, I highly recommend this one!!!Customer Review: Woah are you serious?

I was always skeptical about these fancy, schmancy electric toothbrushes. All my friends swore by them so I finally caved in and gave it a shot.
Boy was I surprised, and I realized a couple of things with this purchase.
1. I never brushed as long as I should have with manual toothbrushes. It always felt like I was doing a great job by taking my time. However, I realized that it wasn't long enough until I saw the timer on the electric toothbrush. (it vibrates after every 30 seconds to notify you and the brushing time synchronizes with the electric clock it comes with)
2. My teeth were several shades whiter over the course of 2 weeks!!
I also like this product because it has a pressure sensor, so you know that you shouldn't brush as hard as you normally want to.
I don't really mess around with the modes. I stick to the basics and "Whitening" occasionally.
I really recommend the floss head that it comes with.
Overall, this has been one of my better purchases in 2010.

This is hands down the best toothbrush I've ever owned. I had a Sonicare brush that died after five years of use. I always loved it. But I noticed that after using it for about 3 years, it kind of didn't work the same way anymore, so I actually went back to manually brushing most of the time.
So, I was in the market for a new brush and found this one. IT IS AWWWWWESOME. I use the floss brush on the professional cleaning setting and my teeth feel cleaner than they ever had after a normal brush at home. My husband HATES electric toothbrushes, but this one turned him on to them! My teeth feel shiny (I know that sounds weird, but I have no idea how else to describe it) they are so clean. I love the way it blasts away the plaque and tartar. You WILL feel a difference!
It is a little louder than my old Sonicare brush, but it works so much better that I could care less. Worth every penny...

I have used Oral B Professional Care for many years and also buy them for my children and grand children. The timer is fantastic and everybody is visualy encourage to brush for 2 minutes. This is very important for children and having the timer is successful and the have fun to brush until the SMILING FACE appears!
My grandchildren even like to keep brushing until it winks at them, which is another 15 seconds! When you go to the dentist, he cannot find any plaque!!!!
It also is easy to travel with it worldwide: it is dual voltage and you just get a plug for the country you are traveling too. As far is I know only the Oral B with the timer has that.
Great product - it's the best! Amazon always has great prices on them!
