Customer Reviews of Oral-B Triumph 9900 Toothbrush with Smart GuideCustomer Review: Proper Brushing Reinforced through Feedback Summary: 5 Stars
This is a high quality piece of dental hygiene equipment. It is engineered well. It feels solid and sturdy. It does not sound like a loud vibrating cheap electric motor. Men know what I'm talking about.
Besides the Fit and finish being excellent this product draws upon positive reinforcement and a guided approach to brushing to ensure that you are doing all that you can to prevent tooth decay and have healthy gums, and are otherwise generally maintaining your dental health. The psychology of this device is ingenious, and the visual guide along with the timer lets you know that you are brushing properly.
The Floss action head is amazing, I can actually feel it going between my teeth in a way that no other toothbrush ever has.
I can also use the whitening head with some whitening toothpaste to polish my teeth. The question now isn't whether I am brushing properly, but how many times a day I will want to brush using this system. This is a shift in paradigm; that is: brushing once or twice a day is drudgery versus a positive attitude that I am not only brushing to prevent future problems but also that I am brushing correctly every time.
I think everyone should have one of these especially children, as it will help them learn proper brushing technique early on; but even adults who are ignorant to proper brushing or otherwise have incorrect brushing technique can retrain themselves with this device.
Customer Review: Keeps the Oral Hygenist @ Bay Summary: 5 Stars
Have had for over a year and highly recommend this product. As a point of reference I'm forty something and constantly had been chastised by various oral hygenist for not flossing enough (who hasn't) and threatned with deep tissue cleaning more than once if I didn't change my lazy ways. Tried getting by with a Water Pick, but it didn't cut the mustard. Since owning the Oral B have had two smooth teeth cleaning appointments, all gum pocket measurements have been in the acceptable range. As gimmicky as it is the little wireless display lets you know exactly how long you have been brushing and if you choose to pay attention to it causes you to brush for a consistant amount of time. After using your teeth feel just as smooth as they do after going for a cleaning, plus your mouth doesn't hurt when you go to the dentist for the cleaning becasue they don't need to poke and scape at your gums as intensively. Only concern I have is that they rechargable battery inside is not consumer serviceable. So at some point will have to by another. Note that this can easily be shared by muliple family members. Just have to buy multiple heads. Heads are a little pricey compared to manual tooth brushes. However, have found that when brushing once a day that the heads last much longer than the recommended three months. In any case cheaper than paying for deep gum cleaning.
Customer Review: 6 month check up, 75% improved! Summary: 5 Stars
My last dentist appointment ended with my dentist putting me on "perio watch" and me thinking about how my parents both have dentures so I am destined to lose my teeth. At the suggestion of my cousin who is a dental hygenist, I bought an electric toothbrush, the oral b triumph with smart guide, and 6 months later, with generally better habits that include this brush, my dentist said I was 75% improved. That is great news to me! My cousin had mentioned that a common problem is that people push too hard when they brush which was why I liked the smart guide, however after the first time I brushed I knew I wasn't brushing too hard and didn't really need it anymore. I do like that the timer helps you spend an equal amount of time on each quadrant and to spend the suggested 2 minutes total. I can't say for sure though whether this brush is better than other similar brushes, especially if you don't need the timer or brushing too hard alert. I only use the flossing action brush heads and have not tried the whitening head. The hygenist at my dentist's office also mentioned massaging the gums more which I think the vibrations of the electric brush help with. All in all though, the last cleaning I had was the least painful/uncomfortable one I've had so I am very happy with this purchase and would recommend it to anyone concerned about their gums.
Customer Review: Oral B Triumphs Summary: 5 Stars
I love this toothbrush. I'm a methodical person and I like getting a consistent cleaning when I brush my teeth. It took a little bit to adjust to cleaning the brush and the unit separately, drying and putting back in the base but it is habit now. I have taken it on short vacation trips and it held its charge admirably for a week at two-three cleanings a day. I haven't tested it for more than a week because I keep it in the base and plugged in at home, although my wife keeps unplugging it for the hair dryer and curling iron off and on for weeks at a time and it has still held a good charge. The flossing brushes I use last between 3-6 months depending on how hard you brush. If you look at the clock/monitor it will tell you if you are brushing too hard, if your brush needs changing and how long you have been brushing - it even provides you with a number of smiley faces depending on how long you brush. I like the 30 second vibrating surges the brush makes to keep me moving to the next section of my mouth as well as the 2 minute surge to let me know I have brushed the minimum. I certainly recommend this brush. This brush will add to your "teeth life" and it helps keep your gums healthy too. Keep flossing though - it's tempting to stop when you get such a good cleaning.
Customer Review: highly recommended Summary: 5 Stars
i just got this today from amazon.
i'm really impressed so far.
it replaces an oral-b manual toothbrush,
which replaced a philips sonicare elite,
which replaced an old braun electric toothbrush.
the "smart guide" thing sounds a little gimmicky but it isn't for me.
right away, i started brushing like i always do, and the red light
came on that means "brushing too hard". so i eased off.
and the time kept going for 2 minutes...i realized that i almost never brush
my teeth that long. i guess i usually scrub them really hard for 30 seconds.
so it might sound like a stupid thing, but the smart guide is already teaching
me how to brush my teeth better. that's a big deal.
the design is really good, very well thought-out. it seems very much like
a "this is the last toothbrush i will ever own" kind of thing.
the new bristle head with flossing thingys on it works really well, too.
definately i can feel a difference. especially between this and the philips sonicare,
which didn't do nearly as good a job as this one does.
i hope the battery lasts, is my only concern. but this is by far the best toothbrush i've tried.
