Customer Reviews of Oral-B Triumph Professional Care 9400 Power Toothbrush

Customer Review: * LCD...
Summary: 5 Stars

I recently received the 9400 for a Christmas present, and I couldn't be happier. This is my second Oral B electric brush. This unit makes brushing easy, effortless, and almost fun.

This toothbrush comes with so many innovative and useful features such as

* 30 second quadrant timer (can be set to a two minute timer) which is very useful.

* LCD, although you can't see the display when you are brushing it is nice to see exactly how long you've brushed. Plus it just looks cool.

* Four brushing modes. Clean, Soft, Massage, Polish.

* Pressure sensor which will adjust so you don't hurt yourself.

* A "smartchip" in the brushheads that communicate with the unit to let you know when to change them. The chip will also tell the unit which brush mode to use depending on which head is inserted (For instance you insert a PowerPolisher head and the unit will switch to the Polish setting).

* A base station charger that can be removed from the larger stand. Which is perfect for when you are traveling.

* You can choose to leave the unit charging all the time with no worry about battery life dropping (as long as you discharge the battery completely every six months).

*The base station has a flip-up storage compartment for (4) brush heads.

For those of you wondering, the unit comes with one FlossAction head and one PowerPolisher head. It also comes with a travel case and charger base station.
You will not be disappointed with this unit. This toothbrush is a bargain at twice the price, and comes with a 2 year warranty.

Customer Review: Do you use it instead of the regular brushing?
Summary: 5 Stars

I've been using this toothbrush for about 3 months now. Previously, I had a much cheaper $30 Oral B electric brush. Even at such a high price, this toothbrush is great.

First, the brush has four different pulse settings, so you can also massage your gums, and polish your teeth. I did not find the massage feature very useful at all though, and just use the normal "clean" setting for my gums. The brush also comes with a polishing head that looks just like what your dentist has. I've used it a few times, but not enough to tell if it's working. The instructions for this brush weren't very detailed and I'm unsure of when to use it. Do you use it every day? Do you use it instead of the regular brushing? The manual doesn't say.

Another nice feature is that it comes with a traveling case with room to hold extra brush heads. My old electric brush didn't do this so it's nice to be able to take this on long trips.

The normal brush head is great. It has four rubber strips on the sides that are used for flossing. I've actually stopped flossing since getting this brush because it feels like these things are doing it for me. I'm not sure if you even need to floss with this brush. The other great thing is that the brush can actually determine wear in the different heads and tells you when it's time to replace one. Although after 3 months I haven't had to do that yet and the brush still looks fine. The brush also has a visual indicator like most brushes that shows you wear.

Probably the best thing about this brush is how much it motivates me to brush my teeth. Before I usually brushed my teeth once a day, sometimes twice, for about 30 seconds. With this brush, I now brush at least twice a day for 2-3 minutes each time. It has a digital 2:00 timer on the brush, and gives you a warning every 30 seconds. What this does is allow you to brush your teeth in 4 different quadrants. By focusing on a quadrant for 30 seconds (which most dentists recommend), I find that it's much easier to brush for 2 minutes and the time goes by much more quickly, and I don't get bored. This is the main thing that makes the brush so great. Plus, you're ensuring an even brushing over all your teeth. The visual display is somewhat useless because you can't see it while brushing. This makes it difficult to change the brush mode, since the brush has to be on for you to change it. You pretty much have to just memorize the brush settings order, because toothpast flies everywhere if you take the brush out of your mouth to put it on a different settings. This wasn't very well thought out by Oral B.

I would definitely recommend this brush to anyone thinking about getting it who may be hesitant of the price. I have seen noticeable whitening of my teeth since using it and have received several compliments.

Customer Review: Just upgraded to the new Oral B Triumph and all I can say is "Wow"!
Summary: 5 Stars

Have been using the electric Oral B toothbrushes for years as my dentist suggested. Just upgraded to the new Oral B Triumph and all I can say is "Wow"! I feel like I just left the dentist office after a cleaning. I now brush longer because of the new timer that tells me ever 30 seconds to move onto another part of my mouth. I didn't think much of this feature just reading about it, but take it for a test drive and see if you don't brush longer. I can't wait for my next cleaning to see what the hygentist says about my teeth and gums. From somebody who hates the dentist and has problem gums, this is the product to help with that. This brush gets everything, it doesn't replace flossing, but it's darn close.

Review:
I bought this one after the unreplaceable battery on my Oral B 3d Excel (older equivalent of the ProfessionalCare 5000) failed on me. After comparing the two, I have decided that the cheapest ProfessionalCare model they offer which costs half the price had all the features I really needed.

The key features for me are:
* Rechargeable - everything from ProfessionalCare 5000 on up is rechargeable
* High speed 3d oscilations - ALL of their models from the ProfessionalCare 5000 on up have the same rotating speed and they all do side to side and front to back movents!
* Needs to supports all brush heads - Aside from their incompatible sonic line, all their brushes support all their brush heads. I bought the Triumph mainly because I liked the idea of their FlossAction head, and on their web site they claim that it only works with the Triumph. THIS IS INCORRECT. The floss action head works with all their models!!!!!! They claim the triumph brush detects a "smart chip" in the flossaction head that causes it to modify the way the motor works, but all it does is restrict you to the most powerful setting. I tried the Flossaction head on my cheaper 3d excel and it works just fine.

All the other features of the triumph are no big deal - the display screen to tell you the charge, etc. All that stuff is not worth paying twice the price to me.

Features they tout as unique to the Triumph that I don't care about:

* Multiple cleaning speeds - unless you have incredibly sensitive gums, you will just use the maximum speed every day.
* LCD display - You can't see it when you are brushing anyway. When you are done it tells you exactly how many minutes you brushed. Who cares about that? The pulse warning after 2 minutes during the brushing (on all their models) tells you that anyway. And it's pretty easy to remember to stick the thing in the charger once a week... you don't need an LCD display with the exact charge. That's overkill.
*FlossAction support - This is a great brush head but as I said above, this works in all their models even though they claim it does not.

They need to justify a higher price so they just packed on features that don't mean much... my advice is just to get the cheapest ProfessionalCare brush model you can find and it will be just as good.

On top of all this, the Triumph display screen requires a bigger battery and is heavier, which is a slight annoyance.

Go to oralb dot com website where they do a comparison of the features of all their models. Keep in mind that their statement that the Flossaction only works on the triumph is incorrect.
