Our family has been using the (Crest) Spinbrush power toothbrushes for several years now, and we didn't think it could get any better than that! Our teeth were markedly cleaner and healthier after switching from manual toothbrushes to the Spinbrush. So I'll have to admit I was a little doubtful that there would be much difference from one power toothbrush to another. BOY, was I wrong!
Our entire family has switched to the Oral-B Vitality Rechargeable Toothbrush, and although we loved the Spinbrush, the Oral-B is so much better.
First of all, just having a timer (2-minutes) on the toothbrush forces us to do a better job by keeping us aware of the length of time necessary for a thorough brushing. This is especially helpful to the kids, but I have to admit on especially long and tiring days, the timer keeps me from cutting my toothbrushing short, too!
Secondly, the actual toothbrush part is phenomenal! It is much more high-tech than regular old nylon bristles, because there are these tiny little yellow rubbery spikes that help clean between the teeth. These are what Oral-B refers to as "MicroPulse bristles," and the idea is that they floss between your teeth while the nylon bristles do the brushing. This doesn't mean you should stop flossing, but it is a nice bonus to the actual brushing, and the gum stimulation is really helpful as well.
I should note that there are several different kinds of replacement heads that are available, including one for Sensitive teeth, that I particularly like. Oral-B Sensitive (3 Extra-Soft Brush heads). There are also ones for Pro-WhiteOral-B Pro White Replacement Brush Head (3 ct.), Dual Cleaning Oral-B Dual Clean Replacement Brush Head (3 ct.), and Precision Clean Oral B Precision Clean 3 pack brush head refill. Don't forget you can use Amazon's "Subscribe & Save" option for even great savings, when available.
I highly recommend either getting a rechargeable power toothbrush like this one, or using rechargeable batteries in a power toothbrush that doesn't recharge. It will save you tons of money in batteries. And as far as replacement heads, there are some amazing deals around, here on Amazon and at some of the "clubs" as well. Shop around because the toothbrush replacement heads can really be costly. (but thankfully, the actual cost of the starter unit is very affordable, especially here on Amazon!)

All 3 of these ACT rinses are at a great price on Amazon right now, especially the 4-pack of bottles.
2) we've found Floss Picks to be a convenient way to floss, either at home or on the go, and we really like these ones by Oral-B, also available here on Amazon. Oral-B Advantage Floss Picks Cool Mint 90 Pieces (Pack of 6)
And don't put off the routine dentist visits every 6 months, especially for the kids. If it's hard to afford it, check in your area for free dental clinics, so that you can avoid more costly and painful problems down the road. Hope this has been helpful to someone! :-D
