Customer Reviews of Panasonic ER224S All-in-One Cordless Hair and Beard Trimmer (Silver)

Customer Review: whats all the bad reviews about?
Summary: 5 Stars

Bought this about a month ago. I was a little afraid based on the 50/50 revies, but after watching the video another reviewer posted gave it a try. After a few trims with it I am happy - for the money its a great value. Used an old metal Wahl for the last ten years which I let rust out and though it still works, thought i would finally retire it. Was a bit shocked to see the price of cordless razors now ...well over $50. This one on sale/clearance for $25 made me give it a shot.

First impression is that it looks good. I wanted a cordless one since i was tired of the twisted cord everytme I pull my razor out. BUT I didnt want one of those that sit on a corner dock taking up half the counter- afterall how often do you use a trimmer maybe once a week? I dont need it out all the time. This one has a nice compact wall charger which can be left plugged in and it will hold the weight of the trimmer as well. So its off the counter and always charged. PERFECT!

One down side I've noticed is that though it is waterproof, it doesnt function well in the shower. Seems to need the hair to stand up in order to grab it. So the waterproofness is more a safety feature than a selling point. Other point, as many have noted, is that you need to set the trimmer guide from the getgo. I didnt realize that and in my eagerness to try it shaved my goatee off first time i used it. No big thang, but i should have looked or read the instructions.

Good trimmer at a good price, dont listen to the negative posters on here- this thing works fine. To get something better you would need to spend $60 or more.

Customer Review: Best Bang for the Buck
Summary: 5 Stars

$18.90 w/FREE shipping*?! Are you serious?

I'm 24 and I've been to your cheap SuperCuts and Master Cuts all the way to your expensive $20 hair cut whole shabang barbers that you find in the hood that take 45 minutes for a cut. I feel like I can do what the pro's do with these clippers/trimmer.

I've used my dads version of these clippers/trimmer for a few months already then liked it so much that I decided to buy my own set. The difference between mine and his is that his doesn't come with a wall charging base like mine and instead has a corded wall adapter. The newly designed unit with charging base is a lot more convenient and space-saving; check out the picture I attached.

I saw some posts complaining about the included trimmer under the guard and I ask myself what their problem is. The trimmer is sharp and strong enough to give you a razor sharp line up all around including your mustache and goatee. It's WAY BETTER (sharper and stronger) than those trimmers that come with the Wahl or Con Air clipper packs.

The clippers itself are nice. They're built great and nice and light. Like the trimmer, they're stronger and sharper than those Wahl (Chrome, etc.) and Con Air clipper sets you can find on Amazon and Wal-Mart for about $40+.

I love these clippers/trimmers so much I'm considering buying an extra set just in case they discontinue it. Buy them now and don't look back.

*Free shipping if you buy other stuff along with this that total more than $25 like I did.

Customer Review: Beats the Norelco, Honestly
Summary: 5 Stars

I'm on my second ER224S... I enjoyed using my first one for two years until I dropped it in the shower and the guard broke, rendering it useless. The rest of the trimmer was unscathed after the drop, however- a testament to its durability. I'm not sure why, but I replaced it with a Norelco vacuum model (39.99), enticed by its upscale features. There were too many moving parts which felt easily breakable, it was extremely loud from the vacuum (seriously, it could wake the entire house with no exaggeration), and was not waterproof making it a pain to clean.

The Panasonic, on the other hand, is a solid, simple design. Everything you need to keep your beard trim is right there, and there are no accessory blades to add or remove or inevitably lose. The blades are sharp, smooth, and very quiet. It feels solid in your hands, and gives an excellent trim. My beard is kept very low, and this does the job with ease.

Because it's waterproof, just rinse it off when you're done. Be sure to oil the blade once a week to keep it running perfectly, but that's the extent of any maintenance this thing needs. Another plus: a wall-dock style charger... The trimmer charges on the outlet, making travel easy (no cords to worry about), and keeping the shaver handy at all times in the bathroom. An excellent, well-rounded product.

Customer Review: More features than I know what to do with...
Summary: 5 Stars

After first trying a Wahl model (http://www.amazon.com/Wahl-9906-2001-Mustache-Cordless-Operated/dp/B000I1TNBS/) that I had to return, I bought this trimmer instead. I have been very happy with it. It would be perfect if it used AAA batteries but other than that I find it almost faultless. It has a dial with lots of settings for trimming at various levels of closeness, has a tapered shape that feels good in the hand, runs for quite a while on a single charge, and is easy to clean. One minor inconvenience is that to use the pop-up detail trimmer requires you to take off the silver-colored ribbed blade guard, but unlike some reviewers I found that easy to do.

The popular video review by Daniel Will-Harris points out that it can be confusing at first glance as to which side of the blade guard you should press against your face while trimming. The key is this: the guard has only one flat side, and that's the side you press against your face. When the dial is set for the closest trim its even more obvious.

Highly recommended.

Customer Review: Superb Trimmer!!
Summary: 5 Stars

This is the first trimmer I have bought and I would say its just amazing. Elegant, easy to use, very effective and accurate. I specially like the small blade which can trim the edges of beard and Side locks. Since its washable I can clean it easily after using. Other thing I like about this it doesn't have N number of attachments to carry around, the adjustable comb(with a Quick Adjust Dial) does all the job and can be detached. Great battery backup too ! Last but not the least Amazon is offering it at a great bargain.

A couple of things I have noticed; Instruction Manual doesn't explain clearly how to remove the comb[just has a drawing] and use the small blade. Be very careful while detaching/attaching the comb as the lever holding it appears to be delicate. Its 110V only so you would need a voltage converter if you want to charge it outside US.

I would strongly recommend this product to anyone looking for a reliable trimmer. A great value for money !!
