As the title implies, I tried the Norelco for a few weeks. I am now returning it, after having tried the Panasonic just two times.
The Norelco (7775x) was quite wimpy. It took between 10 and 15 minutes to get a close shave - way too long for a wet shaver. The Nivea lotion packs were a joke. Completely useless and the pump didn't work reliably. Furthermore, the trimmer was not built-in.
Enter the Panasonic...
While the cleaning system is pretty much a gimmick - not totally necessary but nice to have - both the razor and the cleaning system are quite loud.
If you can handle the noise, it's worth it. The shaver does an excellent job, providing a closer shave than the Norelco in under 5 minutes. The shave was almost identical in closeness to that delievered by the Mach 3 Power (arguably the finest razor). Surprisingly, I did get a couple of nicks with the Panasonic. Maybe it was because I used hand soap instead of lather.
I am completely sold on this shaver - it is outstanding.

I have used electric razors for about 45 years. In that time I have used most all brands. The one I have used most is the Remington. My last Remington was a microscreen ms2000. All my razors have been adquate at best, normally I would have to use a safety razor and "dry shave" my neck every two or three days because the electric razors would not shave close enough in that area. After about two hours of reviewing electric razors I decided on the Panasonic ES8077S. Keep in mind I was not looking for the best priced razor, I was looking for the best razor! Actually, the Panasonic was 30 to 50 percent less than the others in it class and in addition I received a $20.00 rebate. After using the razor the first time I realized this was the razor I had been looking for over the past 40 plus years. I have now only used the ES8077S for three (3) days but I have fallen in love with it. My face feels so smooth with such a close shave; also no "razor burn" at all! I can only think this will get better in the next two to three weeks as my face gets use to the new razor.
PROS: Excellent close shave; no "razor burn"; quite operation; Pivotal shaving head; easy cleaning procedure.
CONS: The automatic cleaning cycle is loud and last for about 2 to 3 hours; the travel bag (marble bag) is a piece of crap (won't hold shaver and cord also no protection for the razor); the cleaner charger has to sit someone in your bathroom, my other razors were stored in the drawer (this unit takes up some counter space).
PLEASE NOTE: I am trying to be honest in this review so someone buying this will know my feelings about this product. The Pros on this razor far outway the Cons. It is an excellent razor and I would buy another one tommorrow if it was necessay.

DID I REALLY NEED A NEW ELECTRIC RAZOR? NAH, BUT THOUGHT I WOULD TRY THE PANASONIC THAT EVERYBODY IS RAVING OVER. INDEED, THIS RAZOR DESERVES PROPS. IT IS LIGHT WEIGHT, ATTRACTIVE AND SHAVES FAR BETTER THAN BRAUN'S TOP OF THE LINE RAZOR. THE PRICE IS JUSTIFIED.
THIS IS THE REAL DEAL. TREAT YOURSELF AND DON'T HESITATE BUYING THIS EXEMPLARY CREATION.

I bought this to replace my three year old Panasonic ES8023. I found that my old ES8023 shaves as well as this one with the original three year old foil and blades. I even feel that the old shaver is more powerful. But I like the feature of pivoting shaving head and self-cleaning system in the new shaver.
I tried Norelco before. I was very disappointed with the performance. Panasonic shavers shave very closely, and you can use it wet. The only problem I can think of is that it is a "directional" shaver. You have to glide the shaver against the growth of the hair.
I strongly recommend Panasonic linear shaver. If money is an issue, get a cheapest linear shaver you can find.
