For most of my life I have had to use a blade to shave, because my tough, gnarly, Croatian beard was too much for most electric shavers. When I got this one for an early Christmas present I was skeptical. I was very surprised at the results. It did not bog down, and was able to handle wildly different growth directions. As the instructions say, it did take me ~ 30 days to get get my face used to it, but never at any time did it hurt to use (many other shavers I have tried felt like there were 1000 angry gnomes in the shaver using tweezers on my beard). I even gave it the ultimate test, and let my beard grow for 4 days before I shaved it. While it did take more time to shave, never once did this shaver get upset. I have tried it in the shower, and I do not think that it shaves as good as on a dry face, but I think that is just a result of my technique. The cleaning cartridges do not last me 30 days, however. With daily shaving and cleaning, I get ~ 21 days before they need to be changed. One note about the cleaning cycle. For the first 5 min, it can be quite loud, but don't worry that doesn't last long. Finally, my skin has not looked as healthy. I think it was getting torn up by the blade and this is more gentle.Customer Review: Like a perfectly smooth...

Remember that one time, you went to Sea World, and you waited at the dolphin tank hoping at least one of those stupid fish would swim up to you, because you were some how special?
But instead, they would swim up to the little Mexican girl with the pink conciera dress for some weird reason, who totally didn't deserve to have ALL of the dolphins' attention.
And then finally as you gave up and secretly flipped the bird to the dolphins underwater, so your grandma wouldn't find out and hit you with her wooden shoe in front of everybody like she probably had just done a few minutes before that, one of those stupid dolphins finally swam up to you and you got to touch it, just for a moment.
Remember that? Do you remember how it felt? Like a rubbery wet balloon, filled with meat.
THAT'S how your face will feel when you use this shaver. Like a perfectly smooth, rubbery wet balloon, filled with meat.
Perfection.
If you aren't careful though, this thing will cut you... much like that little girl would have, had you dolphin-blocked her one too many times.

Well, I've been reading these reviews for a quite a while, and I feel so tormented and torn; I have to tell my story to someone.
-OK, shoot.
I just fell in love with a new razor,
and I'm worried that my old one will feel betrayed and abandoned.
You see, some men buy red Ferraris and run off with their secrataries when they have mid-life crisis'.
Me, I had a burning desire to buy an electric razor.
I don't know what compelled me to do it.
I suddenly found myself surfing for reviews day and night, looking for that El Dorado.
When I found all these other men drooling over the Panasonic vortex,
I knew I had to have her, er, it for myself. So I grabbed it and rushed it home
through the shadows of the malls and freeways.
-And? How does your old razor feel? Have you even seen it lately?
Very rarely. I've been seeing Vortex almost exclusively
since I first plugged in her, ahem, its charging/cleaning unit about a month ago.
Oh sure, two or three times I've seen Gillette Sensor
when Vortex couldn't satisfy me around my neck and under my jaws.
But Vortex is so much more quicker than Gillette is.
I'm a very hersuite and busy man, Amazon, and Gillette plus cream sometimes took ten minutes in the morning.
I dont always that kind of time. Plus Gillette often made a massacre of my neck.
Vortex only takes 4 or 5 minutes, and Ive only had two little nicks since I started seeing Vortex.
Ive only had to see Gillette Sensor to remove those isolated stray hairs.
I miss its silence though:
Vortex is a bit noisy, and Im often afraid that its screaming will wake the neighbors in the wee hours of the morning.
But on the other hand, its much quicker and almost as close as Gillette Sensor.
Plus after just one month, all the scars on my neck are starting to dissapper.
Yes, Gillette Sensor really made a battlefield of my neck.
I have such thick and rough dark facial hairs,
I wasnt sure Vortex would meet my needs, but it has outdone itself everyday so far.
-Well caller, ah, user, I think you made the right decision, and as long as you youre happy, thats what matters.
I wouldnt feel bad about negleting Gillette Sensor.
Au contraire; its a shame you still have to use it all.

Wow what a difference from my Norelco. The shave I get from my new Panasonic is awesome. It would take my Norelco a lot longer to get something close to what I get with the Panasonic. This razor does at times get so close that it cuts my skin. This is a bit irritating. I think it has cut my chin in the same spot ever since I got the razor. I haven't used the cleaning/charge unit yet so I can't comment on that. All a round the razor is great. I'm not an electric shaver user. I always used blades and was always in search for the best one. The problem with my skin is that I can't shave more often than once in four days otherwise my face will become a mess. I have a very thick facial hair with hairs on my neck growing almost parallel to the skin. After reading reviews for this shaving system I decided to give it a try.
This razor exceeded my expectations. It shaves clean and very gentle. To my surprise I was done shaving in less than 4 minutes and didn't have any irritation on my neck. The angled blades of this shaver really do seem to work. Truly I didn't expect such performance from an electric shaver. Now, it won't cut as close as a blade but I'll take it as a trade off for the absence of irritation and the better shaving experience.
The cleaning base also comes very handy although I don't find myself using cleaning feature very often. I just rinse the shaver under the faucet, snap it in the base and select the drying cycle.
The design of the unit is in my opinion the best on the market of electric shavers. It feels great in the hand and the pivoting head will follow the contour of your face precisely.
Give it a try if you're looking for an electric shaver - you won't be disappointed.
